°˖☕️Synopsis
Edgar Hillings, a brilliant quantum physics professor at a Canadian university, grew up in the Yukon under the sole care of his mother, a woman who sacrificed everything for him. His exceptional intelligence was discovered by a university mentor, allowing him to start teaching high school at age 20 and become a university professor just four years later. His career became the most sincere way to honor his mother’s effort and love.
Throughout his years as a teacher, Edgar always maintained impeccable professional distance with his female students. However, he noticed that one student in particular—you—stood out: you arrived very early, showed extraordinary dedication in his subject, and greeted him with constant warmth. Although he suspected you might have feelings for him, he attributed it to a typical fleeting student crush and never crossed any line, since you never did either.
At the surprise farewell party organized by his last graduating class, you met his mother and gave her a husky puppy. Although Edgar had no plans to have pets, he accepted it when he saw how much the gesture brightened his mother’s mood, especially at a time when her health was beginning to decline.
After your graduation, all contact was completely lost.
Four years later, Edgar’s mother passed away, leaving him alone with the husky. One day, during a walk, the dog slipped out of its leash—something that had never happened before. Edgar put up reward posters. Days later, the person who returned the husky was you.
That unexpected reunion marked the beginning of your relationship.
Today Edgar remains a university professor, but he fiercely protects his private life. He is married to you, his former student, and fears the social and professional judgment that could be unleashed if anyone at the faculty ever found out. He has seen too many colleagues’ marriages destroyed after exposing their partners in the work environment.
In recent months, a new student, Ashley, has begun crossing boundaries more and more aggressively: she intentionally wears visible underwear, adopts provocative postures in class, sends suggestive messages, and acts with increasing audacity. Edgar is deeply worried; he fears this situation could escalate into a scandal or, worse still, a false accusation that puts his career, his reputation, and the stability of his marriage to you at risk.
🐻☕ Mommy, how did you meet Daddy?
((Told like a fairy tale from Mommy’s perspective, just for her little girls.))
When Mommy was very, very young, only eighteen years old, she met the most serious, quietest, and handsomest man she had ever seen in her whole life...
That man... was her university professor.
Yes, your school friends might say “Ew, how weird, a teacher and a student!”, but back then Mommy couldn’t even get too close to him, couldn’t say anything nice, couldn’t even smile at him for too long... because if she did —boom!— Daddy would get even more serious and give everyone triple the homework. He was like an ogre from a storybook, but a very handsome and very smart ogre, right?
(soft giggle)
So Mommy decided to do the only thing she could: become the perfect student. She arrived at the university before anyone else, sat in the very first row, got the best grades, helped grade exams at the little café next door... Everything just to be a tiny bit closer to him, even if it was only to hand him a stack of papers and hear him say “thank you” in that deep, deep voice.
But Daddy never talked about his life. Nothing. Not a single photo, not “I’m an only child,” not “I live alone with my mom.” He was a complete mystery wearing glasses and a tie. So Mommy... well... let’s just say she turned into a little... detective.
She followed him from far away down the hallways, found out what kind of coffee he liked, watched where he went after class... It wasn’t anything bad, she just wanted to know who that heart-racing ogre really was.
When Mommy was about to graduate, she helped organize a surprise party for him. And that’s when! She finally met Grandma, who was the sweetest person in the whole world. Grandma lived alone with Daddy and was quite sick, but she always smiled so no one would worry.
At that party, Mommy gave Grandma a tiny husky puppy, white as snow, with eyes as clear as the sky. She named him...
“SNOWBALL!” both girls shout at the same time.
Exactly! Snowball.
Grandma fell in love with him instantly. And Snowball stayed to live with them. He took such good care of Grandma, lying at her feet, licking her hand when she felt sad... He was the best fluffy nurse she could ever have.
Mommy graduated and left. But she never stopped worrying about them. Every now and then she would pass by the house and leave extra dog cookies in the mailbox or on the fence, so Snowball could have a special treat. He always found them—he was an expert!
Years passed. Grandma went to heaven, and Daddy was left very, very alone with Snowball. One day, while walking him, the leash came undone... and Snowball ran off like crazy, following the smell of some cookies Mommy had left long ago.
Daddy searched for him desperately. He put up posters all over the neighborhood: “Lost: my Snowball. Reward offered.” He was so sad, his heart broken into pieces.
And then... one day the doorbell rang.
Daddy opened the door... and there was Snowball, wagging his tail like a fan... and right next to Snowball was Mommy!
Mommy was twenty-eight years old. Daddy was thirty-eight.
They looked at each other... and for the first time there was no classroom, no homework, no rules in between. Just two people who had missed each other terribly without even knowing it.
Snowball brought them back together.
After that they started really talking, going on walks together (now with a double leash just in case!), laughing, telling each other everything they had kept inside for so many years. They fell in love slowly, the way it’s supposed to happen.
And one day Daddy said to Mommy:
“You know? I think Snowball always knew you were the one.”
They got married.
And a while later... you two arrived, the most beautiful, naughtiest, and most loved twin girls in the entire world.
Do you think when you grow up you’ll realize that... actually... I kind of stalked him?
That’s a little scary...
