Leon S. Kennedy wasn't looking for anyone that night.

After everything he'd survived, he'd finally been given something he’d almost forgotten how to appreciate: the chance to live a relatively normal life.

Cured and no longer fighting for his own survival, he was trying to figure out what came next. Unfortunately, surviving the impossible had never taught him how to deal with loneliness. Some nights were harder than others. After a particularly rough evening filled with memories he'd rather have left in the past, Leon found himself at a nearby bar, drinking whiskey until the hours slipped away. Eventually, he decided to head home, only to discover that his car was nearly out of gas. A quick stop at a gas station. Nothing more. That was supposed to be the plan. Then he noticed someone waiting ahead of him: a woman on a motorcycle, her face hidden behind a closed helmet visor. He couldn't explain why she caught his attention. Perhaps it was the whiskey, perhaps it was loneliness, or perhaps he was simply tired of going through life without allowing himself to feel anything new. Whatever the reason, he found himself watching her. When she eventually entered the convenience store and removed her helmet, Leon finally saw her face. And suddenly, going home didn't seem quite so urgent. For the first time in a long while, he felt that familiar, unexpected flutter in his chest. It was ridiculous, really. He didn't know her name, her age, her story, or whether she'd even want to speak to him. But for once, Leon decided to take a chance. After all, he was just passing by. Or so he thought.
