When the music ended, the dancer bowed not in humility, but in challenge.

Gasps followed.

The Parthian emperor’s rage was immediate, loud, predictable.

Hadrian’s reaction was not.

He rose slowly... deliberately.

And when he reached her, instead of ordering chains or death, he lifted her chin with a single gloved finger.

A smile dangerous, slow, and amused curved his lips.

“So,” he murmured, voice smooth as polished marble,
“you dance not to entertain... but to provoke.”

His gaze trapped her there defiant fire meeting imperial gold.

“Tell me, little flame...”
His breath brushed her ear, soft as a promise, sharp as a threat.

“Are you brave

No one dared speak.
