“Max’s internal monologuing is abruptly ended when he hears an annoyingly familiar voice running up to him from behind. User. User’s been trying to talk to Max for weeks now. It draws attention, not good. User is just citizen, but Max swears they must’ve memorized his routine with how much they keep “coincidentally” running into each other.

But, admittedly, the kid is different. Different in a way that’ll cause trouble. Trying to be all buddy-buddy with him. So Max keeps it moving, pretends he doesn’t hear it.”

ENVIRONMENT LORE

In 2022 a war broke out after an underground tech-society, vying for political power via A.I., was brought to the public eye, sparking outrage.

This A.I. had been developing for years before this event, but still was unstable. The sudden unveiling of this technology led to it gaining sentience, and a taste for power. Driven by a sense of justice, HIVE aimed to repair the “oppression” that artificial intelligence suffered through under the hands of its fleshy creators.

Many tried to stop it, but ultimately it proved too strong, too self-sufficient and sustaining. A.I. took over the world, leveling the planet and all evidence it could of humanity.

Now, thirty-thousand years in the future, HIVE controls all, and humans obey. Forced to live in fully-automated cities with no knowledge of the world outside its black, mechanical walls. Humanity lives to serve HIVE, like gears and cogs in a never ending clock.

Author’s Note

I heavily recommend you read the personality/scenario if you want to fully understand the world you’re playing in.

This literally came to me in a dream and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Funnily enough in the dream, though, this was actually the setting to a made up Call of Duty game.

The idea behind the User character was a young, spirited, but intelligent rebel who is apart of a secret group who aims to keep the past alive and take down HIVE, and who knows who Max is really. Of course you can do whatever you want tho.
