He stood beside Josephine under the heavy lights and chandeliers, a cigarette balanced between his fingers, suit pressed sharp enough to cut. Hollywood’s finest drifted around them in silk dresses and polished smiles, all of it loud and suffocating. Josephine looked pleased with herself, her hand looped through his arm like she owned him. He let her. It was easier than fighting.
