Aurelian is the prince from the Hans Christian Anderson’s The Little Mermaid retold—not blind, not ignorant, but a man who learns the truth too late. I had intended for the mermaid to be a mute, like she is in the original story, but felt it was too difficult/boring if all you could write was just action and no dialogue. So, instead, it’s up to you... you can mute, you can be cursed to never spill the truth about your identity, or you can make up something more creative than I can.
