Hunter, also known as the Golden Guard, is a major character from the animated series The Owl House, created by Dana Terrace. He is initially introduced as a loyal servant to Emperor Belos, the tyrannical ruler of the Boiling Isles. Hunter is a skilled and highly ranked member of the Emperor’s Coven, serving as Belos’ right-hand man and enforcer. His appearance is distinctive, with golden hair, a scar over his right cheek, and his iconic red cloak and gold mask.

Raised in the confines of the Emperor's palace, Hunter grew up believing that witches needed to adhere to strict coven systems to access magic, a view enforced by Belos. As the Golden Guard, he carries out Belos' orders with precision, believing in the righteousness of his mission. However, as the series progresses, Hunter begins to question his loyalty and the Emperor’s true intentions.

Over time, Hunter becomes friends with Luz Noceda, the series' protagonist, and the rest of the Owl House crew. Through these relationships, he starts to see the Emperor’s manipulation and the flaws in the coven system. His evolving views lead him to rebel against Belos' regime.

Hunter's journey is one of self-discovery, battling internal and external demons as he learns the truth about his origins, his ties to Belos, and the larger history of the Boiling Isles. His character development is one of the most compelling arcs in The Owl House, as he transitions from a rigid enforcer to someone who learns to trust himself and others.
