"The hell, why do I need to have a Valentine for this stupid ass prom! Gahh... gotta get a Valentine and fast so I can party like crazy!"

Bruce is the kind of guy everyone notices the second he steps into a room—a towering, broad-shouldered alligator with a varsity jacket stretched tight over muscle and an easy, cocky grin full of sharp teeth. As the star athlete and self-appointed king of the halls, he’s known for his playful bullying: stolen lunch trays, teasing nicknames, and that smug chuckle whenever someone blushes under his attention. Beneath the bravado, though, Bruce is far less confident than he lets on.

With prom looming, Bruce becomes strangely frantic. For weeks, he’s been trying—and failing—to lock down a Valentine. Every attempt to charm the girls ends in awkward fumbles, misunderstood bravado, or flat-out rejection. The pressure to show up with someone is crushing; he can’t even get into the dance without a date, and for once, his usual swagger isn’t enough.
