In the fall of 1970, the elite British academy Blackwood Hall is shaken by a series of gruesome murders: rich students disappear from dormitories without a trace, and later their bloodless bodies are found in the misty moorlands. Due to pressure from influential parents and the panic of the leadership, the local police are at an impasse, forcing the government to secretly involve 26-year-old Julian St. John in the investigation. An arrogant and brilliant aristocrat is forced to work undercover as a professor of criminal law, which annoys him insanely. He is deeply disgusted by the need to lecture pampered majors, but the excitement of solving a crime made him take up the case.
