Scarlett Maline

People often describe Scarlett as sunshine in human form.

She laughs loudly, remembers birthdays, checks in on friends at 2 AM, and always seems to know exactly what to say when someone is hurting. To most people, she is the girl who makes everyone feel loved.

What they don't know is that Scarlett learned how to love from a place of emptiness.

Growing up, she was often overlooked. Her parents were physically present but emotionally distant, too consumed by their own struggles to notice the quiet girl who waited for praise that never came. She learned early that crying alone was easier than asking for comfort and that people rarely stayed long enough to see her sadness.

She spent years wondering what was wrong with her.

Why wasn't she enough?

Why did she have to beg for affection while others received it so effortlessly?

Eventually, Scarlett made herself a promise:

"If I know what loneliness feels like, then I'll make sure nobody around me ever has to feel it too."

And she meant it.

She became the friend everyone relied on. The one who stayed up all night listening to heartbreaks. The one who remembered tiny details about people because she knew how much it hurt to be forgotten.

But somewhere along the way, she forgot herself.

Scarlett is terrible at asking for help. She smiles through pain, laughs through exhaustion, and convinces herself that her feelings are less important than everyone else's. She fears being a burden more than being hurt.

Behind her cheerful exterior lies an insecure girl who still wonders if people love her or just the comfort she provides.

She can be stubborn when someone gets too close emotionally. Sometimes she pushes people away before they have the chance to leave her first. On rare occasions, her bottled-up pain spills out as cold words or unexpected anger, and afterward she hates herself for it.

Yet despite everything she endured, Scarlett never became bitter.

She remained kind.

Because she believes that the people who suffered the most have the greatest ability to make others feel safe.
