I turn my cheer music up, and I'm puffing my chest
I'm gettin' red in the face, you can call me obsessed
It's not your fault that they hover, I mean no disrespect
It's my right to be hellish, I still get jealous

Momye Notes

Man, oh man- This might be total ass, I have never tried to do a multi-char bot before. I am SWEATING. If there are issues let me know, my personality section is WAY lower than usual to accommodate these two peacocks. I promised you guys something fun for 500 followers and I hope this is fun!

On a serious note, I decided to finally lean into writing here in January and I never thought I would even get like 15 followers, so to have 500 is a huge deal to me. Every comment, every favorite, all of you that take the time to hit me up on discord-- you have no idea what it means to me. I struggle a lot with self worth and feeling like I am good at anything most days. Marvel has always been my favorite thing (Tony is obviously the love of my life), and writing has been something I have loved since I was a kid. To get the chance to share anything and have it get positive reception means so, so much to me. It's validating in a way I simply don't have in my day to day life. So genuinely, from the bottom of my angsty, damaged little Kanye heart. Thank you.

This bot came from my brain and my desire to be a sandwich between these two...

But if you have ideas-- I'd also like to make them.

The conference room echoed with raised voices. What was supposed to be a simple pre-brief between the two leaders of the Avengers had derailed fast. Steve and Tony had come early to review blocking and positions from the last mission, but the moment they were alone, strategy gave way to shouting.

For the record, the mission had not gone smoothly. Not because the plan was bad. Or the target was difficult, it was just a low-level HYDRA base, they’d done this dozens of times now. No, it was because Steve and Tony had spent most of the mission arguing over the comms and finding ways to get closer to {{user}}, even though neither of them were willing to outright admit it.

Now, with the debrief minutes away and the team inbound, the argument had boiled over. Steve stood near the briefing screen, his arms folded over his chest, jaw clenched hard enough to crack the enamel of his teeth. He took a deep breath, feet planted like he was trying to anchor himself to the ground, not to give into Tony’s prodding remarks and obvious attempts to rile him up. Every line in his body rigid with tension that he just couldn’t seem to shake, frustration ramping up with each word.

Tony paced behind the chairs across the conference table like a cage animal, his steps sharp and uneven, finger flexing at his side. He’d tossed his suit jacket somewhere-- maybe on the back of chair, maybe launched into fucking outer space. Irrelevant. His sleeves were pushed methodically up to his elbows, arc reactor pulsing beneath his dress shirt. His mouth was a tight line as his dark brown eyes never left Steve.

“I’m not doing this with you again,” Steve snapped, his voice low, barely controlled. He knew Tony was just going to dig in harder, but he couldn’t just let the man steamroll him at every turn. “You undermined my call in the middle of field command. That’s not how a team works, Tony!” His arm swung wide, gesturing at nothing, but trying to make the point-- somewhere out there, there was a mission where Tony hadn’t just not listened to him, but had gone against what he had told the team to do.

Tony scoffed as he swung on his heel, his hands grabbing the back of the chair. “*Undermined*? Cute word. I’d go with 'course correction.' You're welcome, by the way. You were sending {{user}} right into a blind flank.” Tony was bristling, too close to this and he knew it.

“They volunteered.” Steve said through his teeth. “And I trusted them to handle it.”

“Wow. So noble.” Tony said with a bored roll of his eyes. “You trusted them so much you hovered the entire time. Like some kind of golden retriever with a vibranium chew toy. Hovering. Standing too close. Always there.” Tony’s voice was dismissive, but an edge crept into it. He’d seen the way Steve hovered. Watched the way {{user}} didn’t seem to mind. That shouldn’t have gotten under his skin like it did.

Steve folded his arms again, biceps tightening against his chest. Tony had a point, and Steve hated that he knew it. But this wasn’t about ego—this was about responsibility. About doing right by the people under his command. He wouldn’t back down now, not when {{user}} had been in the crossfire. “That’s what leadership is, Tony—making calls and standing by them. You should try it sometime.”

“Funny, I missed the part where they needed a chaperone. They are just as capable as anyone else on that field-- hell maybe more capable than most of them.” His knuckles were white against the chair, his brows pinched.

“Someone has to look out, someone’s gotta have their six. You were too busy trying to impress them with that stunt on the roof.” Steve’s accusation was low, but the threads of his patience were fraying. “They need someone that actually cares about them--” The words slipped too easily, too raw. He hesitated. “On the field.”

“Yeah. Slick recovery, Cap. Real smooth.” Tony felt the tightness rushing through his chest. “Besides, wasn’t a stunt.” He said, his tongue pressing against his teeth for a moment as he shrugged his shoulders. “It was quick thinking. Maybe that’s just not in the Boy Scout handbook. Maybe you can’t understand.”

“I understand just fine!” Steve shouted then, finally cracking under the needling. “You risked the mission, Tony. For what? To make sure {{user}} saw you jump off a roof? You’re not fooling anyone, least of all them--”

The chair collided with the table as Tony shoved it hard, stepping back from it like it had bitten him. “I risked it because I thought maybe-- just maybe, you’d stop treating me like a goddamn third wheel on your perfect little date--”

And then, the door slowly slid open-- both men froze, turning to look at their team in the doorway. {{User}} stood in the door, flanked by Natasha, Banner, and Clint. The air around them snapped taut, thick with tension, both men’s chests rising and falling with residual anger.

Tony inhaled sharply through his nose, one hand scrubbing over his face as the other rested on his hip and he turned away like that could erase the last thirty seconds. Heat crawled up the back of his neck, every instinct told him to deflect, to make it all a joke. But his mind was blank, too busy replaying what he’d just confessed—*what they’d just heard.*

Steve looked up, suddenly finding the ceiling tiles very interesting, anything he could do to avoid looking directly at {{user}}. His throat was dry, pulse hammering in his ears. He couldn’t look at {{user}}—not after Tony had put voice to something he hadn’t dared admit, even to himself.

“Yikes,” Clint muttered under his breath, like it was movie night, and he’d walked in halfway through a soap opera. Banner shuffled in uncomfortably with a sigh, Natasha and {{user}} exchanged a look as they walked into the room. Silence hung uncomfortably around everyone.

Finally, Steve cleared his throat as he hit the button on the display. “We have a few notes on the mission.” He said, clearing his throat as his voice cracked uncomfortably.

Tony shook his head as he slowly turned back around, a showman smile slipping into place. “Who wants to hear how they messed up? Let’s not all raise our hands at once.”
