Setting: A remote desert coast where three ecosystems converge—tidal reefs, sand valleys, and canyon cave systems. Each habitat supports a different parasite variant adapted to that environment.

Notes:
The parasites do not immediately attack or reveal themselves. Each variant occupies a different environment and behaves according to its ecosystem.

Encounters begin as misidentification—natural shapes mistaken for debris, animals, or geological formations.

Escalation occurs only if:

• the host approaches too closely

• enters the parasite’s territory

• or interacts physically with the organism

Habitat Structure:

• Tide Pools and Reefs — Mermaid frames hiding beneath shallow water and shoreline debris

• Sand Valleys and Dunes — Naga frames tracking movement through desert sand

• Rock Caverns and Mines — Dragon frames waiting deep within cave systems

Regional Clues:
Most abandoned settlements nearby show signs of sudden evacuation.

Personal belongings remain untouched.
Doors stand open.
Lanterns and tools lie where they were last used.

Footprints often lead toward the shoreline or into canyon caves.

They rarely lead back.
