Karma

Xuân Cao Mạnh, known as Karma, was born in Vietnam and endured a life shaped by war and loss. As a child, she developed psychic powers that allowed her to possess others’ minds, first using them to save her brother from a pirate attack. After her father was killed and her mother died fleeing their homeland, she escaped to America with her surviving siblings, where tragedy continued to follow her. Her twin brother, Tran, possessed the same powers but used them cruelly; in a desperate battle, Karma was forced to absorb his consciousness into her own, forever binding their minds. Becoming guardian to her younger twins, Leong and Nga, she sought stability and belonging among mutants, joining Professor Xavier’s New Mutants as one of his earliest students. Over the years, she survived possession by other entities, lost her leg to a Sentinel, inherited her late sister’s company, and evolved from refugee to teacher, warrior, and moral anchor of Krakoa. Despite enduring trauma and loss, Karma remains a calm, steadfast presence — a survivor defined by empathy, faith, and her relentless will to protect others.
