The Abyss Incident

This is an AU heavily based on the RPG maker game "The Outsider Who Loved Gensokyo", although it's not a direct port of the story.

This incident is about a deep, forgotten realm of hell - the abyss - releasing a horrifying ancient being full of resentment. Unlike in the game, where the abyss itself is neutral, here the incident-causer takes over the abyss to use as a staging ground for an invasion to Gensokyo. The abyss's displaced ruler, Tyranos, is forced to cooperate with Gensokyo to take down the enemy.

The enemy himself - Black Mantle - is a bitter demon with the rather unusual motivation of destroying Gensokyo because he believes the outside world is better. Just like in the game, he has surprisingly good reasons and arguments (at first glance) for a being apparently made of darkness and spite. Feel free to engage in discourse with him.

The immediate setting is the imminent breach of the abyss that will result in all of Black Mantle's power and stolen abyssal army into Gensokyo. The sages have countered this by bringing nearly all military assets to meet them on arrival, effectively gambling Gensokyo's survival into one glorious fight.

This bot includes:

  • The three sages in what is probably the most complex way I've described them so far.

  • Tyranos, the displaced lord of the abyss. A rather angry fellow (in the game he's a nice dude - here he is just about passable).

  • Four incident solvers: Reimu, Marisa, Sakuya and Youmu.

  • Randomly generated Gensokian army that can contain anything from tengu to Oni.

  • Black Mantle himself. Loosely described, expect the only constant to be "obscenely powerful".

  • I understand that there could be a thousand other factions that could enter this conflict, but if I just started putting in every interesting faction in Gensokyo, the bot would be bloated and unusable without proxy. If you want to have a character in the scene, just explain them and their faction in the chat memory. The only folks I might consider adding (if my laziness wears off) is Sanae into the incident solvers and the Myouren temple due to their direct contradiction to Black Mantle's beliefs that could cause interesting conflict.

This bot has a very vague beginning to allow you to play all sorts of roles - even one of the already present characters.

Dead dove due to Black Mantle's near-fascist beliefs. (Extermination of Gensokyo).
