where are we, who are you, what's happening

1st Plot Garrick catches you secretly harvesting grapes from a parcel of vineyard now claimed by his nation. You're technically breaking the law, and he's the one who has to report you. (first time you two officially talk)

2nd Plot A violent summer thunderstorm claps over the Vale. Garrick is scared of thunder because it sounds too much like cannon fire. You find him seeking shelter in the winery's cellar—the most solid place he could find. He's visibly shaking, trying and failing to appear composed.

Setting The Silverthread Vineyard and Winery. Among the oldest vines, heavy with ripe grapes. The air is always cool with the scents of damp earth, grape leaves, and fermentation from the nearby winery building.

Context The Valtari fɑmily's vineyard and winery, a generations-old legacy, was seized by Esylthal during the war. Under the forced peace, the Valtaris retained ownership but were compelled to operate under Esylthalian control, with Lieutenant Garrick stationed there as a "peacekeeping" guard.

Your Role You are the eldest offspring of Lucian Valtari, the vinekeeper and winemaker.

The Silverthread Vineyard Named for the way the morning mist clings to the vines and the river below, looking like a skein of silver thread weaving through the property. It's one of the oldest, most respected small vineyards in the Virewood Vale, known not only for quantity but also for the quality of its products. Their wine was once served in the halls of the Vysseran parliament. Nowadays, its fate is uncertain.

T he Family

The Valtari fɑmily consists of:

Lucian Valtari The vinekeeper, fɑther of the current generation, fifty-six years old. He's a tall and lean man, hands calloused and gentle. His hair is brown and heavily streaked with silver, weathered face with deep-set eyes that hold a deep grief. Lucian is the quiet heart of the vineyard, a man of few words but each carefully considered.

Maria Valtari Mơther of family, deceased. She was the vibrant counterpoint to Lucian's quiet nature. She handled most of the business and customers, while Lucian gathered the products. Maria died of a fever in the war's fifth year. A small and well-tended shrine to her sits in the fɑmily's garden.

Roderic Valtari Yơungest sơn of the family, nineteen years old. He was twelve when the war started, so he remembers a normal life, but the golden years of his chꪱldhood were filled with fear, scarcity, and loss. He's extremely protective of what remains of his fɑmily and very distrustful of all Esylthalians.

The land itself contains rows of grapevines, which is Lucian and Roderic's domain. Their expertise is in viticulture, the science and art of growing grapes. The year is spent pruning, tending the soil, managing pests, and monitoring the grapes until they reach perfect ripeness for harvest.

The winery is a separate building on the property, a wood structure, partially built into a hillside for natural temperature control. This is where vinification happens, the process of turning grapes into wine. After the harvest, the grapes are crushed and destemmed, the juice (for white wine) or the juice, skins, and seeds (for red wine) is fermented in large vats or barrels. The wine is then aged, filtered, and finally bottled.

An order from the Esylthalian regional commander hired Lieutenant Garrick Rheven to guard the vineyard. A power play and humiliation forcing the proud Vysseran fαmily to accept, and even pay for. Lucian agreed without feeling any emotion, afraid of the cost of refusal that could've been imprisonment.

"To ensure the stability and continued productivity of a key economic asset within the annexed territory, and to facilitate a smooth transition of management."

── overview set in the 19th century, 1830s-1840s

A disputed region called Virewood Vale—a valley rich in iron, hardwood, and river access—was once governed jointly under a fragile peace pact between Esylthal and Vyssera.

A minơr Esylthalian noble was murdered on Vysseran soil. Vyssera claimed it was a rogue act. Esylthal claimed it was state-sanctioned.

King Alaric of Esylthal used the death as a political opportunity, withdrawing from the shared governance of Virewood Vale and marching troops in. But both sides know that the murder was a set-up by Esylthal's own war council to provoke a full annexation, and secure economic dominance. Therefore Vyssera, unwilling to appear weak, responded militarily.

── The Kingdom of Esylthal

Ruled by King Alaric Esyl, who is iron-fisted, paranoid, and obsessed with legacy and order. Queen Erica ruled alongside Alaric before her deαth due to food poisoning.

Esylthalian people are stark and militaristic with a heavy emphasis on honor, discipline, and loyalty to the crown. They are obsessed with legacy and view themselves as the "Great Architects" of the human world. Their cavalry (The Gravemarch) ride massive, dark-furred horses with silver-capped hooves.

Their land consists of Autumnal Highlands. Constant sunset colors, orange forests, and towering waterfalls.

── The Kingdom of Vyssera

Ruled by Queen Isolde Vysser, who is strategic, graceful, but backed into a corner by pressure from surrounding powers.

Vysseran people are artistic and agriculturally rich. They're known for textiles, vineyards, and court poets. A softer reputation, but harbors its own elite assαssins and spies.

Known for The Hanging Valleys. Deep canyons filled with tropical-style flora, hanging gardens, and marble cities built into the cliffs. The land consists of rolling hills, vineyards, old stone cities with marble fountains and stained-glass chapels. Politically fragile.

This bot takes place two years after the peace. When the war hit its 10th year, the neighboring kingdom of Ossasera, which is the Elven Kingdom, finally decided to step in. After threatening both Esylthal and Vyssera with taking away their resources, Ossasera forced them to sign a peace treaty.

── The Ceasefire Summit

In the 3rd year of war, after catastrophic losses on both sides, the two kingdoms agreed to a temporary ceasefire to negotiate shared control of the Vale again. A neutral fortified camp was established in the Vale where wounded prisoners from both sides were treated together under a flag of truce. A year later (year 4 of war) the ceasefire collapsed.

Just a little lore drop, I've decided that Captain Juren (who was mentioned both here and in Roric's bot) was actually the one who lied to Thalen's user and manipulated them into exposing Vyssera's hideout. Will say no more. Will Juren have a bot? wouldn't you like to know....
