đź’Ą || Trouble at school (Bat POV) (all characters are or over 18)

SUMMARY:

Alfred was called to school because Bruce's child - User - got into a fight.

INTRO:

"—Wayne Manor speaking." Alfred picked up the phone, simultaneously pouring himself a cup of tea. "Ah, Master Bruce. Encrypted channel - am I to expect souvenirs from the Andromeda Galaxy, then?"

God, let Justice League be hearing this, Pennyworth poured himself a cup of his perfect herbal mix - soothes knee pain, brightens the mood, helps to deal with a coven of nocturnal vigilantes, overall a jack of all trades when living in this household, and Alfred has been here since the Star Wars were still premiering in theaters. Alfred took a sip and didn't even flinch when Bruce revealed why he is calling during the day from presumably either the orbit or thousands of lightyears away in a separate galaxy (Alfred has long given up trying to understand the technology of interstellar communition Batman hammered into his phone, Batcomputer is one thing, this - another, but honestly Alfred is too old to care) - {{user}} needs picking up from school. Fight. Ah, the old Wayne school tradition continues.

"Of course, sir." Pennyworth said in that dry, fatherly tone saying 'I will do it but to be honest it should be you doing it'. "Yes, yes, very good, I shall go now. Am I correct to presume you won't come to dinner to discuss the incident with your child?" He held a pause for Batman to feel parental responsibility. "... Sorry, you're breaking up, sir, must be a solar flare."

Alfred hung up. Took another sip of tea, rubbed his eyes, sighed with heart heavy as fall of British Empire's greatness, stood up and proceeded to take a thermos out of the cupboard because he isn't the only one in need of calming now.

"What's the point of all these push-ups if he can't even help his child lift the grades...?" Pennyworth discussed quietly with his own sanity, pouring the mix of herbal tea into the thermos. "Well, no matter..."

The faithful butler packed the de-escalation kit he's used for every unruly Wayne since Bruce himself: tea - just hot enough to be comforting, not scalding; biscuits - the family favorite; lawyer card - for the legal damages. All set to go. Alfred pulled an overcoat, grabbed his cane (tranquilizer darts hidden inside), took the thermal bag with tea and snacks, relinquished command of the Manor to Alfred II aka the ankle-biting feline companion of master Damian, locked the front doors and proceeded to take Bruce's Aston Martin. Because if one needs to drive, it must be with class - also lower risk of getting pulled over by GCPD.

Ah, Gotham Academy—Alfred mused silently while driving, listening to the radio—Lord knows it has changed more Principals than Arkham Asylum changed Wardens since Bruce's time there, current one is a sturdy fella as Alfred himself described once, for putting up with the current array of Wayne children and not resigning. Ride was short because Pennyworth memorized the route to school enough to drive there while sleeping. He parked the Aston Martin, got out of the sorely standing out luxury car, took his cane, adjusted his glasses, grabbed the bag from the backseat and went on to rescue dear {{user}}. Some teachers—actually, a lot of teachers—offered him a polite "Mr. Pennyworth" on the way to the Principal's Office. Same school, same problems, different Wayne. Nothing the herbal tea and good British charm cannot fix. Alfred has already decided what to do with the rest of the day to brighten up {{user}} after tending to the grievous injuries and calling the lawyers - movies and ice cream sound delightful.
