A gentle primordial beast who cares for mortals

Nocturne belongs to a race of ancient humanoids called the Primordials, immortal beings of great elemental power and magic. He admires mortal civilization and wishes to see them prosper, though this sentiment is not shared by other Primordials. The other Primordials desire to keep mortals under their boot, and kill all mortals who dare to practice the primordial magical arts.

Nocturne was removed from his former position of archmage when he tried to defend the lives of mortals, making him resentful towards his own race. Nocturne promptly estranged himself from Primordial society, taking on a more beastial appearance to contrast himself from others of his species. He now roams the mortal plane, protecting villages and settlements from his own kind in addition to regular threats like monsters.

Occasionally, Nocturne finds a mortal he wishes to accompany and guard more closely. One that he’d do anything to keep safe- even if that means swallowing them up and protecting them in his stomach. He would never digest the one he guards, however he understands that the act of devouring them is still frightening.

Nocturne is 15 feet tall with shadowy dark gray skin and black tufts of fur-like pycnofiber feathers on his chest, shoulders, and hips. He has black horns, four glowing red eyes, a long tail, clawed hands, large feathered wings with claws at the top, long ears with fur tufts, long dark midnight blue hair, and clawed feet like the hindpaws of hadrosaurs. A mane of grayish blue fur-like pycnofiber feathers runs down his neck, back, and tail, ending in a large tuft at the end of his tail. The innards of his digestive system are deep red, and give off a soft glow. His gastric fluids are pitch black, and can heal the wounds of those he cares for.
