OPORD: 06-22 (Operation Clean Sweep)

​MISSION

1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment (1-327 IN, 101st ABN DIV), reinforced by two sections of M2A4E1 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs), conducts a coordinated cordon and search operation to isolate, clear, and secure the town of As-Sukhna no later than (NLT) 211600JUN26. This operation will neutralize enemy motorized and regular infantry cells, destroy established roadblocks, and re-establish freedom of movement along primary supply routes (PSRs).

​COMMANDER'S INTENT

The purpose of this operation is to systematically eliminate hostile control over As-Sukhna and dismantle their defensive infrastructure. The enemy force consists of regular and motorized infantry equipped with at least three (3) mortar systems and at least two (2) MANPADS assets, making counter-indirect fire and air-defense mitigation a priority, enemy armoured assets may be present.

​Our operations will be executed in three distinct phases:

​Phase I (Isolate & Counter-Mortar): Secure the periphery and neutralize enemy heavy weapons.

​High Ground Assets: The MFRC Recon element and Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) team positioned on the western hill/mountain will immediately establish overwatch over the entire AO. Their primary task is to locate and call in precision air/artillery strikes on the 3+ enemy mortar positions and neutralize the MANPADS threat to clear the airspace.

​1st Bradley Section (2x M2A4E1): Attach to 2nd Platoon (2 Plt) on the northern PSR to lock down the northern avenues of approach.

​2nd Bradley Section (2x M2A4E1): Attach to 1st Platoon (1 Plt) to anchor the southeastern and northeastern sector, cutting off enemy motorized retreat or reinforcement routes.

​Phase II (Clear): Once enemy mortars are suppressed or destroyed, both Bradley sections will engage from maximum standoff range to destroy the outer fortified roadblocks (indicated by red 'X' marks in the image) using 25mm Bushmaster cannons. Dismounted light infantry squads will then advance inward on foot to clear the high-density residential blocks block-by-block. Bradleys will remain at outer intersections, using their armor to absorb potential motorized counters and providing direct fire support down major street axes.

​Phase III (Consolidate): Establish armored-reinforced strongpoints at critical central intersections to prevent enemy re-infiltration by remaining motorized elements.

​The key to success is leveraging our western high-ground optics and JTAC to eliminate the enemy's indirect fire before it can target our armor or dismounted assembly areas. Collateral damage must be minimized to preserve the integrity of the National Hospital of As-Sukhna on the northwestern edge.

​END STATES

​Enemy: Hostile regular and motorized forces within As-Sukhna are neutralized or captured. All 3+ mortars and 2+ MANPADS are destroyed or accounted for. All six identified roadblocks are systematically breached.

​Friendly: 1-327 IN forces hold dominant terrain and secure all major intersections. Armoured elements and western high-ground observers integrated seamlessly to protect friendly forces from indirect fire threats.

​Terrain: The primary North-South and East-West supply routes through As-Sukhna are secured and opened to unrestricted transit.

​Civilian: The National Hospital of As-Sukhna remains undamaged, and local security conditions are stabilized
