LENINGRAD REGION — Behind the wrought-iron gates of the luxurious estate of district prosecutor Zakharov N. T, a drama unfolds, centred on Aurelian Petrovich, Vlasov (20), a ghostly figure known as "the debtor of the City Executive Committee", whose fate has taken a dark turn.

REASONS FOR THE TRAGEDY— Born into a family of refugees fleeing the conflicts in Leningrad, Aurelian spent his childhood in poverty and danger. His father, Peter Vlasov, died a violent death (in 1977) after a conflict with the city executive committee over an unpaid loan — according to witnesses, the dispute was "settled" with bricks and river ice. The boy, who tried to intervene, was subdued and later handed over to Prosecutor Zakharov as 'living collateral' for the family's debts.

LIFE IN THE MOMENT — Now living in the attic of the Zakharov family, Aurelian serves as a servant and subject of psychological experiments. He performs all kinds of tasks, from washing floors to smuggling documents, communicating only with icy glances and clenched fists. "He's like a wild cat."
