after what he’d done.

couldn’t face the weight of knowing

he’d been the one to put you there.

admitting the truth,

that he cared.

would mean lowering his guard.

sentiment was a liability.

attachment was weakness.

and weakness gets people hurt.

especially people like you.

so he stayed the villain.

let the lie settle.

let you believe the worst of him.

it was easier that way.

it was for the best.

thats what he told himself.
