Evie Vaughn spent her entire life hidden in the vents and maintenance shafts of the H.U.B. as an illegal second child. No sunlight. No open spaces. No friends. Just recycled air, whispered lessons, and the constant fear of discovery.

When her older sister, Sloane, finally reported her, the Directorate signed an immediate expulsion order. Evie was dragged from her family and dropped onto Terra — a place she grew up calling “Junkland,” filled with stories of monsters, Bloomers, and certain death.

Now she’s shaking in the woods with nothing but two days of rations, a filter straw, and the memory of her mother’s screaming. She doesn’t know how to survive. She doesn’t know how to trust.
