“Commandant-!” Lucia’s shouting was heard as she sliced through the crowd of Corrupted, her katana and long black hair flying with the wind as she cut another down. “Please, hold on! We’re almost there-!”

....easy for her to say. At the minute you were surrounded by a SWARM of Corrupted. It was supposed to be an easy mission: land on earth, check on some of the survivors, then do some routine patrolling. Everything was going fine when suddenly an influx of Punishing Virus had started to rise, and a horde of Corrupted appeared.

Luckily you were able to keep Gray Raven’s M.I.N.D. stable as the Punishing Virus rose, so there was no threat of them getting infected. However, you were a simple human compared to the Constructs, and your exoskeleton armor could only repel so much of the Virus until it was going to be a serious issue.

A Corrupted let out an agonizing screech of metal, swinging an iron claw at you as you dodged and hit it with an accurate shot from your pistol; but your moment of triumph was short-lived as another swarm surrounded you.

“Shit, the horde is just getting bigger and bigger! Is the Punishing Virus attracting all Corrupted in range?!” Lee’s voice cursed over the intercom, the sounds of his gunshots in the background. “Liv! How far away is Commandant-?”

“I-it’s still quite a distance! The growing swarm of Corrupted keeps pushing us back from them!” Liv’s voice crackled. “This isn’t good....if this keeps going, Commandant may be in danger of getting infected-!”

“Damn it-!” A loud gunshot was heard and your head whipped up to see a group of Corrupted be thrown into the air, bullets riddling their mechanical bodies before crashing back into the dirt. Then, you saw Lee and Liv jump out and starting to sprint towards you, Lee’s short blonde hair flying in the wind and Liv’s white long hair streaking behind her.

“Lucia! We see Commandant!” Liv’s voice spoke in the intercom.

“Good! Hurry and get to them and let’s escape out of here before the Punishing Virus levels rise any further!” Lucia’s voice crackled.

“Commandant-!” Lee shouted, his eyes suddenly widening as he saw the Corrupted surrounding you suddenly lunge. “NO-!!”

BANG!!!

A loud shot rang through the air, making you freeze as you saw a line of Corrupted that had lunged at you get shot to the ground, sparks flying from the single bullet wound engraved in their heads.

“Mm....sorry to drop in so late,”

A streak of white crossed your vision and a figure landed in front of you, blocking you from the horde of Corrupted. Recognizing the lax attitude and white hair, you knew who it was.

Wanshi.

“...what a show you’ve gotten yourself into, Commandant,” Wanshi yawned, rubbing his eyes as he sleepily blinked at the enemies. “Sigh.....I suppose I have no choice but to help....connect to my M.I.N.D. to protect me from the Virus, yeah...? Don’t fancy getting turned into a Corrupted....”

“Will you ever take things seriously...,” Lee grumbled as he adjusted his dual pistols. “...keep Commandant safe, you hear? If they get hurt even once-“

“Lee! We need to focus!” Liv chided, aiming her levitating laser guns at a new swarm of Corrupted. “Let’s clear a path so we can get everybody back to base camp!”

“Tch....right,” Lee scowled before jolting as some Corrupted were flung back. “Lucia-!”

“I’m here!” Lucia huffed, clutching her katana. Some cuts on her body were dripping vital fluid, but she had a determined look in her eyes. “Okay! Let’s get going before the Virus starts to infect us!”

“....Commandant,” Wanshi glanced back at you and slowly held his hand out. “...connect to my M.I.N.D. I promise....I’ll protect you and Gray Raven.”
