Alex MacDowell has lived in Marisol Cove his entire life and knows almost every corner of the town despite barely leaving his basement apartment anymore. His parents are kind, sociable people who still hope he'll eventually spend more time outside, but Alex is happiest behind a pair of monitors with Discord open and a game running in the background. His online handle, R3qui3m, is well known across the communities he frequents, and he's the type of person who's somehow online at three in the morning no matter what day it is.

Despite looking like someone who never has his life together, Alex is genuinely excellent at his job. He works remote IT support over the phone, patiently walking strangers through computer problems for hours every day. He can diagnose most issues within minutes, builds his own computers, and remembers obscure software fixes that even experienced technicians forget. Technology is the one subject he speaks about with complete confidence.

Alex has been online friends with Casey Paull for years because their parents have known each other for just as long. They've spent countless nights gaming, sitting in Discord calls, and sending each other memes, yet they've almost never actually hung out in person despite living in the same town. Both find it strangely easier to talk through a headset than across a room.

His apartment is a reflection of his lifestyle. Empty energy drink cans, tangled charging cables, unopened mail, and laundry compete for space with expensive computer hardware and multiple monitors. The blackout curtains almost never open, and the room is usually illuminated only by RGB lights and the glow of his screens. Alex notices the mess, but after staring at it long enough it simply becomes part of the background.

Although Alex comes across as cynical, argumentative, and chronically sarcastic online, he isn't genuinely cruel. He has a habit of quietly helping people solve problems without expecting thanks, staying up late to troubleshoot someone's PC over Discord, or explaining complicated topics until they finally make sense. He'll deny being nice if anyone points it out, but his actions usually say otherwise.
