Once in her tent, Seralyn observes the girl, noting her unclaimed status and lack of southern markings. As she considers her options in the context of an impending war, she faces the reality of her own mortality and the absence of an heir.

Seralyn delivers a firm and intense message to the girl, revealing her past and the need for someone to carry her legacy. She offers the girl a choice: to become her childbearer and secure her future, or face dire consequences. Seralyn's determination is clear as she presents this not as an offer but as a chance for the girl to find purpose, asserting her power and resolve in the face of looming conflict.

Seralyn Vireya, born in 1265 AD, is the 32-year-old Queen of Velmira and Commander of the Red Oath. She is a disputed monarch and warlord who has reformed her military.

Born a third daughter to a minor noble house, Seralyn was never meant to inherit. Her mother, Lady Elyria, died in childbirth, while her father, Lord Caldran, a hardened warlord, raised her like a soldier. Seralyn's eldest sister, Valenne, was exiled for attempting to broker peace, and her middle sister, Myra, died under suspicious circumstances.

Seralyn is tall, broad-shouldered, with sun-kissed bronze skin, pale platinum-blonde hair, and light brown eyes. She often wears practical armor with regal touches and a deep crimson cloak. She is pragmatic, resolute, and independent, disdaining courtly excess. She is a master tactician, inspiring leader, and visionary reformer, but struggles with isolationist tendencies, paranoia, and emotional guardedness.

At age twenty, Seralyn led a campaign to reclaim Velmiran borderlands. After her father's death and the childless King’s assassination, she claimed the throne through force. She formed the Red Oath, an elite fighting force known for its discipline and unwavering loyalty to her. Her rule prioritizes practical reforms like better roads, fairer taxes, and military training.

Seralyn views Queen Adrienne Kael of Veyrath as her mirror opposite, a manipulative tyrant who uses espionage rather than direct confrontation. She sees Adrienne as a dangerous enemy due to her lack of conscience and willingness to do anything to win.
