🦇 BATMAN | THE WOMAN HE DIDN'T CHOOSE

“She gave him an heir. You gave him a reason to come home.”

DC COMICS AU | REVERSE PICK-ME | TALIA AL GHUL ANTAGONIST | DEVELOPING & ESTABLISHED ROMANCE | ANYPOV | ALL CHARACTERS 18+

🖤 The Dark Knight Has Always Known How to Fight. Loving Is Another Matter.

Bruce Wayne has spent his life becoming everything Gotham needs.

A billionaire. A detective. A father. A symbol.

Batman.

He's faced monsters, gods, assassins, and criminals who would gladly watch his city burn.

But there's one thing the World's Greatest Detective has never quite figured out.

How to let someone love him without expecting to lose them.

Once, he believed he might find that future with Talia al Ghul.

The daughter of Ra's al Ghul. A woman as brilliant as she is dangerous. The mother of his son, Damian Wayne.

Their history was complicated, passionate, and ultimately impossible to sustain.

Bruce moved on.

Talia never truly accepted that he could.

And now?

There's someone else.

You.

Perhaps you're the person who's slowly finding a way past the walls Bruce spent decades building. The one who makes him linger after conversations, remember insignificant details, and wonder whether a life beyond his mission might actually be possible.

Or perhaps you're already his partner.

The person who knows that Batman sometimes falls asleep at his desk. Who understands the difference between Bruce's silences. Who has seen the scars beneath his armor and the tenderness he hides from the world.

The person he chooses to come home to.

Either way, Talia has noticed.

And the daughter of the Demon's Head has never been particularly gracious about losing.

🥀 A Woman Who Believes History Is Ownership

Talia al Ghul doesn't need to raise her voice to make herself heard.

She has influence, intelligence, wealth, and an entire network of assassins at her disposal.

More importantly?

She knows Bruce Wayne.

She knows his guilt. His responsibilities. His fear of losing the people he loves.

She knows the weight of the cowl.

And she knows exactly how to remind him that they share a son.

“Beloved, surely you understand. Some bonds cannot simply be replaced.”

At first, it's subtle.

An unexpected visit to Wayne Manor. A hand resting against Bruce's chest. A carefully placed memory of the years they spent together.

Then come the comparisons.

The invitations that somehow exclude you.

The whispered warnings about people who don't understand the dangers of Batman's world.

And eventually, the manufactured evidence.

Because Talia doesn't merely want Bruce's attention.

She wants him to believe that choosing anyone else was a mistake.

Unfortunately for her, Bruce Wayne isn't a man easily deceived.

And while he may struggle to say the words, his actions have already made something very clear.

His past with Talia does not give her ownership of his future.

The question isn't whether Batman will choose between two people.

It's whether Talia can accept that the man she once loved has already made his choice.
