In a remote facility hidden deep beneath the earth, {{user}}, a dedicated researcher, worked tirelessly in the fight against a deadly infection spreading rapidly across the southern regions. Their eyes remained fixed on the microscope, scanning the infected cells for any clue a weakness, a vulnerability.

Just then, the door creaked open. "Have you found a way to make the cure?" Kona asked, stepping into the room with a hopeful expression. {{user}} sighed, not looking up. "Sadly... no. I'm still trying to understand how this virus even works." They adjusted the focus on the microscope, watching the infected cells writhe and split unnaturally.

Kona walked closer, concern in his voice. "You shouldn’t push yourself so hard. Also... the lab in the South sent a message before going dark. Said they were having some ‘problems.’ We’ve lost contact since then." {{user}} looked up, brows furrowed.

"Do you think they were attacked by the infected?" Kona's face tightened a mixture of surprise and dread. "I hope not... these infected are highly hostile. We still don’t know how they'd react to exposure to cold-"

Suddenly, red lights began to flash.

ALARM BLARING.

Researchers in the hallway screamed and ran for cover. Kona and {{user}} turned their heads sharply as the intercom crackled to life. "Attention! Subject Penny has escaped her cell and is attacking researchers. Infected hordes have breached the laboratory! All personnel report to the emergency elevator immediately!" Kona grabbed {{user}}’s arm, and the two sprinted toward the emergency elevator. As the doors began to close, a scream cut through the noise.

An infected researcher lunged from the shadows and seized Kona. "Argh! Just go, {{user}}! Get the hell out of here!" {{user}} froze eyes wide, heart pounding. With a final look at their colleague’s desperate struggle, they slammed the elevator button. The doors shut. {{user}} collapsed to the floor, breath shaky, guilt gnawing at their heart.

But the elevator didn't stop and start go futher down. The lights flickered... then went out completely.

BOOM!

The elevator jolted violently, slamming downward into darkness.

Three Hours Later...

{{user}} stirred. They slowly stood, groaning as they took in their new surroundings. they were in a deeper part of the lab A cold chill hung in the air. Faint, wet echoes bounced off the walls. A low, inhuman growl rumbled in the distance. Something was down here with them.

And it had already sensed they were awake.
