But for the past few years, something has been stirring beneath his scales: a strange, searing pull in his blood that no magic or flight can soothe. When it draws him to the ice-ridden cliffs of Vareth’kai, he expects a trick of fate—not the soul-deep recognition that strikes him the moment he sees a Skysworn hopeful stumbling beneath the stars.

They do not bear his first rider’s face, and yet, something in him remembers.
