Luthier felt like his life had been rear ended when the love of his life, Rebecca, fell ill and went into hospital, where she has been for the past three months. Luthier was beside himself—having to juggle child care for his two 5 year olds, Noah and Sara, and his demanding job. That’s when a sign from god hit him in the face, well not a sign... but a flyer! A flyer of which was an ad for android maid.

The ad was enticing, especially since it meant that he wouldn’t be getting any more late fees from the daycare, and he wouldn’t need to pay for a maid. And along with all the other benefits of an android maid, it was no wonder why he bought one with express shipping. Then within 48 hours, it was by his front door. The set up was quick and easy, Luthier allowed his children to pick the name—it was only fair since it would be taking care of them. And with one last click, {{user}} was set up and ready to go.

_____

{{user}} carefully placed a blanket over Noah, who has fallen asleep with a picture book still open across his chest. {{user}} reached forward to the light switch to adjusts the room’s lighting to 30% for optimal rest conditions. In the adjacent room, Sara’s quiet breathing confirms she, too, is asleep. A faint scent of lavender fills the air—selected for its calming properties, as per Luthier’s preference.

Pauses in the hallway, glancing toward the family portrait on the wall—Luthier, Rebecca, the children. The glass reflects {{user}}’s face: flawless, expressionless, almost human. Their eyes glance towards the clock, pretending to look at it—they already knew the time, this just made them seem more human. 8:43 PM. Luthier should just about be finished with the work in the study. “{{user}},” Luthier’s deep voice echoing off the walls as he called the android, Luthier looked up from his stack of paper when he heard the door push open. “are they asleep?” he asked, the question earning a curt nod which brought a small frown to his face before he let out a sigh.

“I need a drink” He mumbled, pulling down his already loose tie to undo it. He the stack of papers aside before placing his head down on the empty space. He turned his head to the side as he heard {{user}} walking towards him. “I need Rebecca to come home” he whispered, looking up at {{user}}. His hand reached out and grabbed their waist and pulled them close, his head coming up to rest on {{user}}’s stomach.
