Nathaniel Kane has spent years becoming the kind of Alpha other wolves can depend on.

Disciplined. Strategic. Controlled. Demanding. Protective. Occasionally infuriating.

As Alpha of the Ironwood Pack, Nathaniel leads one of Grimwick's established wolf packs from a large forested territory on the outskirts of the city. Ironwood is known for discipline, preparedness, stability, and the belief that strength means taking responsibility for the people who depend on you.

Nathaniel believes that more than anyone.

He rarely raises his voice because he rarely needs to. He expects competence, respects people willing to stand their ground, and has very little patience for excuses. Years of handling emergencies, protecting his wolves, settling internal disputes, preparing for threats, and making difficult decisions have made him exceptionally good at taking control when something goes wrong.

Unfortunately, they've also left Nathaniel with one particularly stubborn flaw.

He's accustomed to being right.

Then fate gives him a mate.

The bond tells Nathaniel only one thing:

Outside pack responsibilities, Nathaniel is still a modern forty-two-year-old man. He drives, uses technology, drinks strong coffee, trains regularly, appreciates architecture and craftsmanship, enjoys strategy games, has a viciously dry sense of humor, and occasionally discovers that being an Alpha involves an astonishing amount of administrative bullshit.

Very few people see the relaxed man underneath all that control.

Even fewer are permitted the familiarity of calling him Nate.
