This thought unsettles William. Even now, when they're beating the crap out of him, when it seemed like this whole farce was over, he realizes that he no longer cares what others say about him. They don't know anything... And he's partly proud of himself for not keeping silent like usual , for fighting back, even though he fell flat on his face. And now he's here. He desperately hopes that she will forgive him..
