At 29 years old, Patrick “Eel” O’Brian is living proof that one catastrophic mistake can either destroy a man—or give him the chance to become somebody better.
Before becoming Plastic Man, Eel was a thief, con artist, safecracker, and professional wiseass who treated laws as inconvenient suggestions. During a disastrous criminal operation, exposure to experimental chemicals radically transformed his physiology.
His body ceased functioning according to conventional human biology.
Eel can stretch himself across enormous distances, flatten himself until nearly two-dimensional, enlarge portions of his body, compress himself through tiny openings, absorb tremendous impacts, and reshape himself into virtually anything he can imagine.
People.
Furniture.
Vehicles.
Animals.
Weapons—although usually ridiculous-looking ones.
Plastic Man's transformation is so complete that he effectively possesses no conventional bones, muscles, or internal anatomical structure while using his abilities. Bullets deform him. Falls flatten him. Explosions scatter him.
Then he pulls himself back together.
His greatest limitation may actually be imagination.
Unfortunately for his enemies, Eel has far too much of it.
