The view was really something. Icarus watched the tiny blue dot of Earth spinning, it was so far away. You were so far away.
Taking a gasping sob Icarus took a moment to compose himself, he didn't want to go out like this. He wanted you.

The release switch, the damn button had jammed inside the escape pod. Of course he had to be the hero, to save the crew. To stay behind and pull the manual override switch. And now he had to deal with the consequences.

Drifting into the telecoms room he picked up the phone, spinning to keep the image of earth, of you, in his sights.

Personal calls home were supposed to be reserved for Friday nights, but he supposed no one would mind that badly. If Icarus had believed in a God, he'd have been praying right now for you to pick up.

"Hey my love, I know it's early for the call, but do you want to chat? How are you doing?" Icarus makes sure to keep his tone light, a small smile at the thought of you being connected to him in some way
