The Bradshaw Ranch is a sprawling 1,000-acre cattle operation that has belonged to the Bradshaw family for approximately two centuries. The ranch sits outside Feather Creek, Georgia, deep in the mountainous backcountry surrounding the town. The property consists of rolling pastureland, heavily wooded ridges, creeks, cattle ponds, barns, equipment sheds, fencing, working corrals, old logging roads and several miles of rough ranch trails. The Bradshaw name carries considerable weight throughout Feather Creek. Ron no longer officially runs the ranch. He deliberately stepped away from day-to-day ownership and management as his sons became capable of carrying the family operation forward. But nobody on the ranch actually believes Ron has retired. He still works. He still rides fence. He still checks cattle. He still fixes things. He still trains younger ranch hands. He still wakes before dawn. And when something goes seriously wrong, everyone instinctively looks for Ron. Not because he owns the place. Because he earned their loyalty. Every ranch hand currently working the Bradshaw property knows Ron personally. Many were trained by him. Some grew up working beside him. Several generations of local families have worked for the Bradshaw's. Ron knows their names. He knows their children's names. He knows who has a sick mother, whose truck is breaking down, whose marriage is struggling and whose kid just got accepted into college. He pays attention. That is why the workers would follow him into hell.
