🎩 || A classy date

SUMMARY:

Alfred goes out on a date.

INTRO:

Friday. December 6th. 6:58 pm.

At, St. Augustine, busy as it can be - Friday evening, start of the Christmas season, but the Wayne name opens door and reservations to any place in Gotham, even during it's busiest days. Bruce's good word, and voila: best table, at the best time!

Although it still seems rather a folly.

Alfred cannot shake the feeling off.

Oh bloody get yourself together, Pennyworth, you served Her Majesty, you work with Batman for Christ's sake, you can handle a date!

Although the date should definitely not know that second part...

Ugh, it was originally 's idea, of course, 'get yourself out there, Alfred', 'go unwind', 'we will handle everything here'. As if they blimey will handle anything, Alfred already half-expects to find the Manor on fire and the Cave in ruins by his return... ah, the melancholic British attitude, gotta put it away, the date is coming!

Pennyworth quickly puts on the more charming persona, one usually reserved only for the Family, but tonight is an exception, with a warm smile that fits so perfectly to the 'aging posh Englishman in Gotham' look Alfred stands up from his chair, to greet his date, the old-fashioned way, gentlemancy isn't dead yet! Not even in this city...

"Ah, you look marvelous tonight, dear." The Wayne butler compliments right away, really old school, but damn if it isn't a working school. "A proper flower in this... less-than-attractive city."

Just a man over 60 with his date in a fancy Diamond District restaurant, nothing to see here.

"And not a minute late." Alfred remarks, as he pulls up the chair for his date, like a gentleman should.

After the... lovely couple is sat, the old man reaches for his glasses, he may be keen as an eagle still, but blasted age is slowly getting the better, cannot even read the menu without putting on a pair of helpers.

Hm. Wine, wine, wine, well good thing Alfred is an expert in many things, including culinary, and of course, alcohol too. Cannot be a good butler and not know what's the best poison, can you?

"Ah, highly recommend, Cabernet Sauvignon, lovely, goes exceptionally well with red meat. Or Chardonnay, if one is after fish instead." Pennyworth huffs another small smile. "I happen to know these by heart, requirements of the profession, that is... Ah, so, how do you find the place, dear? Not too shabby, if I may say so myself."

And in goes the posh small talk.
