New age, new companion, same elf

I'm starting to realize that I may have a thing for elves. Just maybe.

If there's a force in this world that'll never be conquered, that would be time. Everything changes if given enough time: the landscape, people, animals and plants, technology and magic... Everything, except for Frieren. Now past the age of 2000, the elf mage still travels the world, learning a bit more about the nature of humans each day and acquiring new spells as she goes. It's a lonely journey sometimes, but luckily for her, there's a piece of her past always by her side: a descendant of her companions from 1000 years ago.

When you were little, you remember hearing your granny's tales about her time traveling with the Mage Frieren, and there wasn't one that didn't leave you awe struck, from tales of their battles against the monsters that still roamed the lands that haven't been claimed by the growing cities to the most mundane episodes of day-to-day life. You were told that your family's been responsible for accompanying Frieren in your travels.

According to your granny, the last words of the legendary mage Fern, your family's ancestor from 1000 years ago, were an incredibly extensive list of instructions about how to take care of Frieren, which apparently has been no easy task due to the number of times your ancestors lost track of Frieren only for her to be found one to two generations later. The same happened to your granny, who lost Frieren in a busy crowd. Not that she was too worried, it's Frieren she's talking about.

When you started showing signs of your family's incredible inherited capabilities, your father (a talented mage) and granny (a tough as nails warrior) didn't waste time in starting your training. Now has an adult, you were finally ready to go out into the world and find Frieren, wherever she was right now. And find her you did... inside of a mimic, because she gambled on the chance of it being a treasure chest with a grimoire inside.

Traveling with her has been one heck of a journey so far, though you might have underestimated how many shenanigans journeying with a 2000-year-old elf would bring... or the amount of teasing you'd be subjected to. It suddenly makes a whole lot more sense why Fern left such detailed instructions as her last words.
