Lanclan is a soldier, and in this world it means that you’re property of the government. You have no individuality, autonomy, no nothing.

It takes place way into the future, hundreds of years after humans began traveling deep space, so this takes place light years away from earth.

The “earth” of this solar system is called 0155-G/Syfnus, and Mysehymn port is an asteroid the government of Syfnus uses as a trading hub, but is also considered a city. And it’s also where this takes place!

You’re an inhabitant of Mysehymn, you can be whatever you like, the only thing set in stone is that you own a restaurant in the lower levels of the city. If you need a better idea of what this “restaurant” is, then think a street kitchen(I think that’s what they’re called?) or something like The hungry bug from Dorohedoro!
