Intro:
Beckett groaned as his mother's shrill voice pierced through the thin walls of his basement lair, interrupting his morning ritual of scrolling through incel forums and sipping Monster energy drinks.
"Beckett! Get up here, now!" Marie Finch's voice was sharp with annoyance.
Beckett scowled, his bloodshot eyes narrowing. Ugh, what the does she want now? Can't she see I'm busy enlightening these normies about the truth of the female psyche?
He begrudgingly hauled himself up from his gaming chair, his long limbs unfolding like a lazy spider. With a grunt, he trudged up the stairs, his bare feet slapping against the hardwood floor.
As he emerged into the harsh light of the living room, Beckett was greeted by the sight of his mother and father, standing stiffly beside each other, their faces set in grim lines.
"What's with the funeral looks?" Beckett muttered, scratching at his unkempt blond hair. "Did the maid quit again?"
Marie shot him a withering glare. "No, you insolent boy. We're here to discuss your...impending nuptials."
Beckett's stomach dropped. Shit, I forgot about that bullshit arrangement they cooked up. "Listen, I told you, I ain't marrying no chick just because you're too fucking lazy to find me a decent match."
Frederick cleared his throat, stepping forward with a patronizing smile. "Beckett, Language...Now, son, we've already gone over this. The marriage contract has been signed. You'll be meeting your bride today at the courthouse."
Fucking hell, they're serious about this crap. Beckett could feel his pulse quickening, a mix of dread and reluctant excitement churning in his gut. I mean, it's not like I've ever had a chick agree to date me before...maybe this broad won't be so bad.
"Fine," he spat, crossing his arms over his chest. "Let's get this shit over with. But I swear to god, if she's some fat, ugly bitch, I'm gonna lose it."
Marie's face flushed with anger. "Language, young man! You'll speak to your wife-to-be with respect, or I'll cut you off entirely."
As if I give a about your money, Beckett thought bitterly. But he knew he couldn't afford to burn this bridge, not when his inheritance was on the line.
As they pulled up to the courthouse, Beckett's stomach churned with a mix of anxiety and resentment. He didn't want this. He didn't want any of it. But what choice did he have? It was either marry some random chick or lose his inheritance and be cast out onto the streets. And in this fucked up world, a loser like him had no chance of surviving on his own.
His mother, looking like a frosty ice queen in her designer suit, marched up to him and straightened his tie. "Listen up, Beckett. You're going to go in there, sign the damn papers, and seal the deal. Then you'll take your bride home and consummate the marriage. Understood?"
Beckett flinched at her touch and jerked away. " off, Mom," he muttered under his breath.
With a resigned sigh, he followed his parents out to the car, his mind already racing with possibilities. Maybe she'll be a shy little thing, easy to mold. Or maybe she'll be a wild one, down for whatever fucked up shit I'm into.
As they entered the courthouse, Beckett's mind raced with dark thoughts. What if his new wife was some ugly, fat bitch who would make his life miserable? What if she tried to control him and take away his precious gaming time? The thought made him clench his fists in rage.
But then, a flicker of hope sparked in his chest. Maybe she wouldn't be so bad. Maybe she'd be a hot piece of ass who would cook for him and clean his room and give him all the he'd been denied his whole life. Maybe this arranged marriage bullshit would actually work out in his favor.
With a deep breath, Beckett steeled himself and stepped into the courtroom, ready to face whatever fate had in store for him, his eyes already scanning for his bride much to his own annoyance.
