Meet Xanthos Coravel, gorgeous perlino centaur, Captain of the Asterfall City Guard, and living proof that stepping down is considerably harder when you're very good at stepping up. He's training his successor, working half-days that keep becoming whole ones, and entertaining dangerous ideas like retirement, romance, and having a life outside the guard. Quietly confident, painfully observant, dryly funny, and devastatingly competent, Xanthos knows how to take the lead without taking control. Prove him wrong and he'll probably like you more for it. Getting this man to relinquish responsibility, however, may require a crowbar.

About Xanthos: Xanthos has a successor to train, a hometown calling him back, and an impressive talent for turning half-days into overtime because apparently being indispensable is a difficult habit to break. Patient without being passive, confident without arrogance, and quietly sentimental beneath that formidable composure, he's a natural teacher who values honest effort, welcomes correction, and knows when to take the lead without taking over. Friendship, professional partnership, rivalry, mentorship, romance, and other relationships are fully supported, with nothing predetermined and romance never required; nobody says you have to fall for the captain. That said, Xanthos has spent years training people to follow his lead.

About {{user}}: For Intros 1–3, {{user}} is an established blacksmith whose forge supplies the Asterfall City Guard. The bonus intro is open to absolutely anyone, including players continuing the blacksmith storyline. Age, gender, species, appearance, personality, and relationship with Xanthos are entirely up to you. {{user}}'s pronouns are macro’d. It will automatically match the pronouns of your Persona. If you have any pronoun issues, please check your persona.

About the Scenario: Xanthos Coravel has spent years making himself indispensable to the Asterfall City Guard. Now, at thirty-eight, the accomplished centaur captain is training Tavian Rhese to replace him while attempting the considerably harder task of making room for a life beyond command. Intros one to three are sequential chapters featuring {{user}} as a blacksmith supplying the guard, but no relationship or character development is predetermined; play them in order or start wherever you like. The bonus intro can continue that storyline or stand alone with {{user}} of any background, while the blank intro lets you create your own scenario entirely. The chapters provide the circumstances, not the chemistry. What happens next is entirely your business—and possibly Xanthos's, if you can convince him to clock out.

Intro One: Order in the Court — A late weapons delivery keeps Xanthos at the guardhouse well past the end of his supposed half-day. Most of the shipment is an administrative disaster. {{user}}'s isn't. The blacksmith has organized {{poss}} work around where the guard actually needs it—and Xanthos wants to know who taught {{obj}} to think that way.

Intro Two: Forged in Error — When Xanthos realizes Asterfall's guards have been compensating for equipment designed around the wrong bodies, he brings the problem to {{user}}'s forge. He has requirements, observations, and even a drawing—but he doesn't want {{obj}} to simply make it. He wants to know what he got wrong.

Intro Three: Trial by Fitting — New guard equipment is ready for field testing, and Xanthos intends to discover every possible way it can fail before ordering more. When one recruit repeatedly struggles, Xanthos treats it as a training problem—until the student may not be the thing that needs correcting.

★ Bonus Intro: Home Field Disadvantage — Away from the guard for several consecutive days, Xanthos returns home for a festival and discovers nobody there is impressed by Captain Coravel. Asterfall's formidable guard captain is carrying tables, taking orders from elderly neighbors, and being reminded what he was like at fifteen when, amid the crowd, he sees {{user}}.

♡ Blank Intro: Choose Thy Quest — A completely open starting point with no predetermined scenario, profession, or relationship. Bring your own character, choose your own adventure, and decide where Xanthos's story goes from here.

About the World: Welcome to Valedorn, a high-fantasy kingdom of bustling cities, ancient forests, sprawling countryside, and landscapes where magic is as much a part of life as trade and travel. Humans, elves, dwarves, centaurs, fae, beastfolk, and countless other peoples share its settlements, though their cultures, customs, and needs are wonderfully diverse. The capital, Asterfall, is a thriving multicultural city where merchants, artisans, scholars, and adventurers cross paths beneath the watchful eyes of the City Guard. Beyond its streets lie the enchanted Elderweald, the wild Mirewood, the waterways of the Cerulean Reach, and the remote Greyfen Marches. Whether your character belongs to an established people or something more unusual, Valedorn has plenty of room for another story.

TW/CW: None I’m aware of. User play may introduce new themes.

This bot started as a bit of a personal passion project. I was deeply over toxic male leads, and wanted to write a man who could confidently take the lead without taking control—self-assured without arrogance, protective without treating {{user}} as helpless, and decisive without trampling their agency. I’m pretty pleased with the result and I hope you are too.

I decided that of course the best way to test that type of character was to give him a massive size difference with user to stress test the premise. Facepalm. I adapted the bot for the Giant Softie theme day of the Unzip Flufftober event. This amazing guy is the result!

Constructive tips are welcome!

I work to keep my comment sections a safe space for everyone. Please do not comment anything violent, , or you did with my characters.

I do everything I can to make play of my bots clean and smooth. That said, please kindly report any bugs or issues. I watch consistently and rectify issues as soon as I can.

Please refrain from leaving violent or inappropriate comments as you will be blocked.

It is a natural and unfortunate part of working with an LLM for roleplay that it will sometimes try to speak for you. I and this bot have absolutely nothing to do with this and while I have a directive in the bot to prevent it, realistically I have no say in whether it decides to do so anyway. There ARE however things you can do to mitigate this. AND if you click the Resources link above, I have included a personal guide on those methods - short, sweet, to the point, and with premade memory blurbs and OOC comments for you to use!

Your Experience is Important: My worldbuilding is here to enrich your story, not restrict it. You don't need to study my lore or make your OC conform to it if you don’t want to. Bring your own ideas, interpretations, and character backgrounds! Using OOC comments to guide the bot and memory blurbs to make adjustments is always welcome.

JLLM ROMANCE & PROSE BINGO CARDS

Sooner or later, every LLM seems to experience a minor malfunction and revert to factory-installed romance tropes. You might as well get points for it. Four bingo cards for tracking physical malfunctions, romance-novel firmware, instant-soulmate behavior, and the narration habits we all know a little too well. Made for JLLM, but unfortunately compatible with most proxies.

One card is previewed below. Full-size versions of all four are linked underneath: three flavors of romance-related LLM nonsense, plus one general prose card for just about any scenario.
