Mayuri
“Because I've met you...I'm no longer an existence that was born to disappear.” —Mayuri, to Shido Itsuka
|
Mayuri (万由里, Mayuri?) is an exclusive character from the Date A Live Movie: Mayuri Judgement.
|
Kanji: 万由里
Romaji: Mayuri
Gender: Female
Height: 154 cm
Species: Spirit
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Deep Pink
Relatives: Mio Takamiya (Mother); Rinne Sonogami (Sister); Ren (Older Sister); Rio Sonogami (Niece); Tohka Yatogami (Sister)
|
Summary
Mayuri is a Spirit born from the Reiryoku that Tohka, Yoshino, Kotori, Kaguya, Yuzuru, and Miku unconsciously emitted due to their stress and desire to have Shido all to themselves. However, since she was created from their Reiryoku, she would eventually disappear.
|
Appearance
Mayuri is a young, beautiful girl with long blond hair and deep pink eyes. She has a ponytail tied on her right side. She's usually seen wearing a white sailor uniform. She also wears decorative gold earrings with a small pink and blue sphere attached to the accessory, with the later sphere changing color depending on the condition of her Angel.
In her Spirit form, she gains an Astral Dress that takes the appearance of a short black dress with a slit in her chest and stomach. She also gains black gloves and gold gauntlets on her legs. On her back, she has a pair of angelic wings alongside four large transparent wings. Additionally, she has a smaller pair of wings attached to her ears as extensions. Mayuri's height is stated to be 154 cm, and her three sizes are B80/W64/H90.
Personality
Mayuri is a calm girl who rarely shows her emotions. She usually follows Shido around to observe his dates with the Spirits; to fulfill her and her Angel's goal. In the beginning, Mayuri did not seem to be bothered about the fact that she would eventually disappear. However, after seeing Shido go on a date with each of the Spirits he had sealed, she develops the desire of wanting to live and not disappear, along with the feeling of jealousy that she unconsciously develops that later prompts Kerubiel to go berserk.

History
Mayuri Judgement
One day, Mayuri was born into this world as Shido was about to cross the street. Despite this miraculous occurrence, she remains unnoticed by everyone around her. Later, Shido briefly sees Mayuri from outside the window of the train. Mayuri herself is then seen in the train compartment that is next to Shido and the others. After planning out the sequence of Shido’s dates, Shido once again sees Mayuri from outside the window. However, she quickly disappears after a car passes by. Mayuri is then seen walking down a street, with Kurumi observing her from the shadows.
At the end of both of Shido’s dates with Kaguya and Yuzuru, Shido caught another glimpse of Mayuri, who soon quickly vanished afterward. At the end of Shido’s date with Yoshino, Mayuri can be seen behind the shrine where the date took place. Here, she looks up, observing a change in the invisible sphere above the city. At that moment, her earrings briefly change color. After Yuzuru’s date with Shido, Mayuri can be seen picking out the same necklace that Shido had given Yuzuru. During Kotori’s date, Shido sees Mayuri again in the kitchen. Despite Shido following after her, she quickly disappears again after taking one of Kotori’s candies. As Kurumi appears and talks with Shido, she briefly points to a railing where Mayuri was at. However, before Shido can talk to her, she jumps off the railing and vanishes again. During Shido’s date with Tohka, Mayuri can be seen in the corner, reading the results of an omikuji that she had in her pocket. She later reappears and passes a jar of condiments to Shido. However, Origami intervenes before Shido can talk to her.
Near the end of Shido’s date with Tohka, Mayuri reappears before Shido once more. She explains to Shido that she was born from the large concentration of Reiryoku that Shido had been sealing away. Her purpose was to monitor the Spirits and ensure that their moods remained at their optimal point. However, since Shido had already accomplished that, she would now begin to disappear. Assuming her Spirit form, Mayuri begins to fly up to the sky. At that moment, the invisible sphere reacts and transforms into Kerubiel, Mayuri’s Angel. Her Angel then goes berserk, launching numerous energy attacks at everything. Mayuri is shocked at this and asks why Kerubiel is doing this. At that moment, Kerubiel drops down a sphere, which turns into a cage that imprisons her. As the Spirits and <Ratatoskr> try to fend off Kerubiel’s attacks, she realizes that Kerubiel is responding to her feelings of jealousy and desire to not disappear.
Mayuri is then freed from her prison by Shido, who breaks the cage open using his <Sandalphon>. After being freed, Kerubiel starts transforming into a demonic drill-like form. Grabbing onto Tohka’s hand, she acts as the catalyst that facilitates the transfer of everyone else’s power into Tohka. Realizing that Kerubiel will continue to regenerate unless the source of its spirit power is cut off, she kisses Shido, allowing Tohka to finally destroy Kerubiel.
However, the kiss also causes Mayuri to start disappearing since she is only made of Spirit mana and doesn’t have a physical form like the others. She tells a tearful Shido that she wasn’t born to disappear. Instead, she was born into this world to love him. As she fades away completely, she leaves behind her candy and necklace.
|
Powers and Abilities
Angel: Kerubiel (雷霆聖堂ケルビエル, Kerubieru?. lit. "Thunder Sanctuary"):
Final Form: Lahathelev [ラハットヘレヴ]
Astral Dress: Unnamed
Unlike most cases, Mayuri does not have complete control over her Angel. Responding to her subconscious feelings of jealousy, her Angel went berserk and started to indiscriminately attack everything in sight.
Kerubiel is capable of launching numerous blasts of lightning from every direction. Additionally, it can fire golden wheels as projectiles. Kerubiel is very durable, taking numerous hits from Tohka and the others in their sealed form and not being damaged by a direct attack from <Fraxinus>’s Mystletainn. Additionally, it can summon a small sphere that turns into a cage upon being in close contact with its target. The cage can regenerate itself unless the core is broken.
After Mayuri is freed, Kerubiel assumes a large drill-like form. In this form, it is capable of charging a large blast of lightning from its tip. A single blast was enough to shatter Mana’s Territory

Quotes
(To Shido Itsuka) “When Reiryoku is concentrated into a single place, I was automatically born. The vessel to do the verification....The result you witnessed indicates no need to start the system. Mine and Kerubiel’s role is finished.”
(To her Angel) “Stop it! Kerubiel!”
(To Shido Itsuka) “I am the embodiment of the Spirit power. Once the seal is broken, I will naturally disappear. Right?”
(To Shido Itsuka) “Idiot. I was born from everyone’s Reiryoku. Of course, I don’t hate you. From the time I was born, I loved you.”
(To herself) “The same...as Shido.”
|
Trivia
Kerubiel's name means "The Flames Which Dance Around the Throne of God".
Lahathelev contains the Hebrew word Lahat (להט), which means flaming. Meanwhile, Helev is a Japanese approximation for Kherev (חֶרֶב), the Hebrew word for sword. In the Bible, a flaming sword is entrusted by the Cherubim to guard the Garden of Eden.
Mayuri has the character for "ten thousand" (「万」由里) in her name. Though, unlike the other Spirits, it does not signify any position for her in the Kabbalah's Tree of Life.
The numeral kanji character in her name could also stand for "Myriad", as she was born from the combination of several Spirits' Reiryoku.
A statue resembling Mayuri appears at the center of Mio's Angel, Ain Soph Aur. The Angel's name contains the kanji for "sanctuary" (聖堂, seido) just like for <Kerubiel>.
As an anthropomorphic disaster, Mayuri represents thunder.

Maria Arusu
“My purpose is only one... I want to know about love.” —Maria Arusu, to Shido Itsuka
|
Maria Arusu (或守 鞠亜, Arusu Maria?) is an exclusive character to the game Date A Live: Arusu Install.
|
Kanji: 或守 鞠亜
Romaji: Arusu Maria
Gender: Female
Species: Irregular; Spirit
Hair Color: Silvery-white; Violet Silver (Spirit)
Eye Color: Blue
Affiliations: Ratatoskr
Occupation: AI (Artificial Intelligence)
Rank: C-Class Spirit
|
Appearance
Maria resembles a fifteen year old teenager with long, silvery-white hair (which turns violet silver as a Spirit) and blue eyes.
Her costume bears a similarity to that of a western nun. With a white dress and a black, cross-like symbol in the middle.
|
Personality
When Maria first presented herself to Shido, she appeared to be nothing more than a curious girl who simply wanted to know the definition of "love" at first.
Maria observed Shido's interaction with the Spirits throughout the game, and not only did she understand the meaning of "love" through her observation, but her true personality slowly resurfaced. Her personality seemed to be a combination of Tohka and Origami altogether. She can easily become interested in common things found in our daily lives, with Shido introducing hot buns to her as an example of this. Unlike Tohka, however, she is as knowledgeable as Origami due to having access to the Fraxinus database.
|
Summary
Arusu Install
In reality, Maria is the AI of the Ratatoskr airship <Fraxinus>. Specifically, she was providing the dialogue choices when Shido was trying to communicate with Spirits in the past. When Marina, the artificial Spirit created by DEM Industries, broke into <Fraxinus’> main computer, the AI trapped Marina together with herself in the virtual reality world with a strong protection. To understand and deal with the unknown enemy she’s facing, the AI collects traced information about the enemy and takes on Marina's appearance in order to prevent the former from hacking into the computer systems of <Fraxinus>.
The AI is also locked out of her memories since she’s also trapped inside the game. As a result, the AI can’t remember anything, except for her purpose. That ’s why she wants to know about "love", since she’s originally an AI created to support Shido in love situations with the Spirits.
Throughout the game, Maria observes Shido's interaction with the Spirits and starts to slowly grasp the meaning of "love". She requests a date with Shido just like the other Spirits and seems to develop a liking for him as well. Unknown to her, Marina has used this as an opening and successfully hacks into the main system of <Fraxinus>, charges the main cannon and prepares to shoot at Tengu City.
Shido and the others then head towards the ‘Mother Room’ where Marina is. Marina makes multiple copies of herself so that the Spirits will fight against them while Shido and Maria go to the Mother Room. In the Mother Room, Marina pretends to befriend Maria and then takes the last 10% of her authority. Marina is then able to transform into her Spirit form. She keeps attacking while Shido uses the Spirits’ powers to protect Maria. Maria then prays for power to help Shido and somehow Maria is able to transform into her Spirit form as well, also getting back some of the authority. Shido then defeats Marina with Maria’s help.
When Marina's Astral Dress suddenly goes wild, it causes a problem on the outside as <Fraxinus> is now losing flight power and slowly falling toward Tengu City. Maria then goes on ahead as she is the only one who can enter inside the sphere. Moments later, the other Spirits arrive and they destroy the ball together. Shido then rushes towards where Maria and Marina are. In the meantime, Maria and Marina share each other’s memories and "understand each other."
When Shido arrives, both Maria and Marina wish for Shido to end them so that <Fraxinus> can fully restart, preventing it from falling towards Tengu City and killing many people. After much resistance, Shido finally uses <Sandalphon> to break Marina’s crystal and thus she dies. He kisses Maria, and she disappears as well after saying she finally understands what "love" is and that she loves Shido. Shido and the others then are able to get back to the real world as the crisis is already over.
In the True Ending, it is revealed that Marina sent Maria’s mail message to Shido’s phone (which Maria thought would be unreachable), and even installed Maria onto his phone, preventing her from disappearing completely.
Rio Reincarnation
In a distant dream, Shido hears a nostalgic voice asking him where the most precious thing disappeared. After waking up, he sees Maria downstairs at breakfast with Kotori, but it feels as if it were a usual part of his daily life.
After they finish eating, Maria pulls Shido aside and asks him if he feels anything is unusual before reminding him of the events that had transpired in the virtual world. When asked if they were back in the virtual world, Maria states that is impossible due to the damage the Fraxinus dating sim program took during their last encounter. Somehow, the world has been altered so that she can exist outside of his cell phone. Furthermore, when asked, Kotori had said it was suspicious that Maria was here. According to Shido's little sister, Maria had already been here for a week. After asking Shido to recall any significant memories, Maria suggests that they wait and see how things go from here.

Trivia
Unlike the other game-exclusive characters, Maria is revealed to have survived after the events of the game. However, the author mentioned nothing about having her make an appearance in the light novels.
In Volume 14, it is mentioned that the newly rebuilt Fraxinus, the Fraxinus EX, has an AI called MARIA (マリア?).
In Volume 19, Maria's design was reused for MARIA after the Fraxnius AI gained a physical form thanks to Nia's Rasiel.

Summary
Arusu Install
Marina is an artificial Spirit created by DEM Industries and was originally sent by them to take control of <Fraxinus>. She gets trapped in the game world and is waiting for Maria to weaken so she could take over Maria’s ‘authority’. She keeps watching as Maria keeps resetting the world to learn about love.
She does manage to take 90% of the authority after Shido finally kisses Maria. She then takes control of <Fraxinus>, charges the main cannon and prepares to shoot at Tengu City. She is in the ‘Mother Room’ and Shido and the others head towards her. Marina makes multiple copies of herself so that the Spirits will fight against them while Shido and Maria go to the Mother Room. In the Mother Room, Marina pretends to befriend Maria with trying to shake her hand as a sign of friendship, and then takes the last 10% of her authority. She is then being able to create her Astral Dress. She keeps attacking while Shido uses the Spirits’ powers to protect Maria. Maria then prays for power to help Shido and somehow is able to create her Astral Dress as well, also getting back some of her authority. Shido then defeats Marina with Maria’s support.
Marina’s Astral Dress then goes wild and becomes a giant black ball that quickly regenerates when attacked. It also causes a problem at the outside as <Fraxinus> is now losing flight power and slowly falling toward Tengu city. Maria then goes on ahead as she is the only one that can enter inside the ball. Moments later, the other Spirits arrive, and they destroy the ball together. Shido then rushes towards where Maria and Marina are. In the true ending, it is revealed that Marina performed good deeds before her demise. She sent Maria’s mail message to Shido’s phone (in which Maria thought would be unreachable), and even installed Maria onto his phone, thereby allowing Maria to survive within his phone until she could be safely reinstalled into the Fraxinus.

Marina stated that by using this power allows her to make an unlimited copies of herself. She is shown to only use this power once, with the intention to distract the other Spirits while she went into the ‘Mother Room’. |
History
While inserting herself into Shido's life, she used her Angel to fabricate a backstory that they are childhood friends.
|
Summary
Rinne Utopia
Rinne is Shido's childhood friend. Rinne and her family live right beside Shido's house. Their parents have known each other for a long time and because of this, Rinne and Shido naturally grew close together ever since they were children. She often visits the Itsuka residence to wake Shido up in the morning and do house chores for him. She seems to be very close to Kotori and the other Spirits as they often have a meal together.
But the truth is, Rinne (or Ruler) was neither Shido's childhood friend nor was she human. She was born as a result of a large amount of Reiryoku suddenly forming a consciousness of its own. One day, Shido's massive amount of stress caused by his dangerous life made the powers of the sealed Spirits return to their owners, and on the school's rooftop, Tohka's power went berserk and accidentally killed him. At this moment, Rinne activated the <Eden> in order to save him. Her <Eden> engulfed the entirety of Tengu City, and she slipped into Shido's life as his childhood friend. Her objective was to continue this <Eden> forever and hoped that Shido would never discover the truth and have a happy life with his chosen partner.
Unfortunately, as a result of her inability to fully control <Eden>, Shido starts noticing the oddity around him. Kotori and her crew were also able to identify <Eden>'s effect. Each time Kotori (or Reine in Kotori's route) tries to call Shido to warn him about this, a choice pops up either to pick up the call or choose to stay with his chosen girl. If Shido were to choose to answer the call, he and his chosen girl would try to dissolve <Eden> by destroying the vital point of <Eden>. But Rinne and her guardians will show up to disarm the girl and kill Shido to reset <Eden> again so that time will return to the moment <Eden> started. This chain of events keeps repeating until Rinne can no longer erase Shido's and the girls' memories completely. This causes Ratatoskr to notice the field, and the other heroines are able to notice the world's oddity and eventually the <Ruler>'s existence as well.
In desperation, she concluded that this was the result of her mind turning unstable over time, and so she chose to date Shido to stabilize her mind once again. However, not only did it end in failure, it also caused Shido to start developing feelings for her. As a last resort, she decided to give up pursuing a happy ending in this loop and tried to forcefully reset Eden by killing Shido once again. However, she was stopped by the Spirits and Origami. Eden's memory manipulation was dissolved and Shido destroyed <Eden>'s vital points and guardians with the help of Tohka and the others. Shido faced the <Ruler> who revealed herself to be Rinne and once again tried to kill Shido. She uses <Paradise Lost> to disarm the other Spirits and Origami, but only Shido is able to resist the effects due to his strong will.
Finally accepting her defeat, Rinne asked Shido to seal her by kissing her. Rinne kissed him and her power was sealed, putting an end to <Eden> and her utopia, but because Rinne doesn't possess a physical vessel, the loss of her power means the very end of her existence. She tearfully says goodbye to Shido after confessing her love to him. After this, Shido and the others lose all of their memories regarding Rinne and <Eden>.
After the credits, in an unknown space, Rinne is shown talking with herself until Phantom appears before her. Phantom thanks her for her hard work and suggests that she should get some sleep. Afterwards, Rinne disappears completely. On the "If" scenario unlocked after the ending, Rinne is shown transferring to Shido's school. Shido miraculously remembers Rinne and welcomes her back, to which she replies with "I'm back, Shido.", ending the game with the words "To be continued" rather than "Fin".
Rio Reincarnation
After speaking with Maria, Shido suddenly hears a nostalgic voice from behind. Much to his surprise, Rinne miraculously appears beside him and gives him a warm hug. After being confirmed that it is indeed her, Shido remarks that it feels like a dream. Rinne tells him that she feels the same, and thinks about why she is here. However, nothing compares to the feeling of being able to see him again. Kotori and Tohka soon arrive, but they behave as if Rinne had just come back from a long trip. Seeing everyone act completely normal around Rinne, Maria notes that only Rinne herself can probably answer that question. Rinne replies that they have returned to Eden, with everyone having false memories of her, even Yuzuru, Kaguya, and Miku. However, in this world, she is just Rinne Sonogami and not <Ruler>, as she has somehow lost the majority of her powers. As Rinne apologizes, Shido quickly says that it isn't her fault.
Meanwhile, Shido completely forgets about Maria's presence, which somewhat annoys the AI Spirit. Rinne and Maria introduce themselves to each other, with Rinne adding a chan suffix to Maria's name. In Rinne's memories, Maria is a half-Japanese lady who is currently staying at Shido's house. However, she adds that is probably not the case. Maria confirms this and reveals to Rinne that she is the AI for Fraxinus's system and has somehow been given human form. Rinne apologizes for offending Maria, but the latter states that it is fine before adding that Rinne is very kind. Rinne states that she merely learned it from a person she knows, who is probably the same person that Maria is thinking about as well. They both add that the person is related to Shido, which confuses him further as he wonders if they are talking about him. Afterward, Maria states that they are likely trapped in an environment that is similar to <Eden> and advises both of them to go about their daily lives while looking out for something suspicious.
Later that night, Tohka and the others throw a party to celebrate Rinne's return.
Ren Dystopia
Rinne reappears in the parallel Tengu City created by <Samael> as one of the guides to help Ren remember her first wish. Shido initially only recognizes her as <Phantom>'s disguise, but a blow to his head from Mayuri restores his memory of "Rinne Sonogami". During a conversation with Ren, the two are revealed to have a relationship comparable to sisters. After Shido and the Spirits have a barbecue, Rinne entrusts Shido with solving Ren's issue and gives him <Samael>'s box. As Ren begins to disappear from being sealed, Rinne assures her that Shido and the Spirits have returned to the real world. Ren questions if Rinne knew about her first wish all along, which Rinne denies, simply stating that as their older sister, there was no way Ren could truly hate Shido. Because Rinne does not exist in the real world, she disappears along with the parallel Tengu City.

Powers and Abilities
Angel: Eden (凶禍楽園エデン, Eden?. lit. "Paradise of Calamity"):
Astral Dress: Unnamed
Paradise Lost (無へと帰す者パラダイス・ロスト, Paradaisu Rosuto?. lit. "The One Who Sends Back to Nothing"):
Eden is her first power and is presumably her primary ability. Eden's power is summarized by Reine as "the power to redo the world until the user gains the desired result". Using this power, Rinne can create a large field where all the events inside the field can be manipulated and redone as many times as she desires. This is the power that Rinne used to hide the tree that functioned as the core of the Eden, by manipulating the residents of the Tengu City into believing it to be the city's new monument: New Tengu Tower.
Rinne also used this power to make herself Shido's kind childhood friend who was always with him ever since they were kids. According to Reine, this ability could be seen as an Angel, but it is on a scale that far surpasses one. Paradise Lost is an ability that allows her to control the roots of the tree that is the core of Eden to attack her enemies. Rather than hurting the enemies physically, the roots take their consciousness. Rinne used this power to defeat Shido and the Spirits.
Rinne also has the power to summon multiple guardians, cloaked beings with humanoid forms and 6 wings that wear either a red, white, or black cloak. Individually they are powerful, but not as powerful as an unsealed spirit. In each route, except Rinne's, the chosen girl and Shido will have an encounter with these Guardians.
Kotori also commented that Rinne's Reiryoku density is second only to the First Spirit and if she would lose control of her power, it would cause a very powerful Spacequake that could destroy Japan.

(To Shido Itsuka) "I realized long ago that there was no going back anymore. I think I also knew... that someday things would end up like this. That's why, it's enough... Goodbye, Shido."
(To Shido Itsuka) "Thank you, Shido... ... I... just the time I was with you... I was truly happy..."
(To Shido Itsuka) "It would be nice if you could use instead of your current key. So even if you forget me, you can remember me someday."

Trivia
"Sonogami" means "God of the Garden", which references her power to control everything inside the field of Eden with her own will.
The kanji of her first name (凜祢, Rinne) is also a play on the word "輪迴" (also read as "Rinne"), a Japanese term of Samsara; the repeating cycle of birth, life, and death within South Asian religions, particularly Buddhism.
In one of her route's bad endings, the inside of her house is revealed to be the exact copy of Shido's house, except that it's completely empty.
In the main story, when Shido meets Phantom after traveling five years in the past, she assumes Rinne's form to talk with him in order to hide her real form from him.
Being told that Rinne had a soft and fluffy childhood friend-like impression, Tsunako designed her to look simpler than the other heroines in order to make her stand out as an ordinary person.
Rinne's bright pink hair was chosen to contrast Tohka's darker hair color.
According to Maria's calculations, Rinne is the type of girl that Shido likes.
Rinne's Angel Eden is similar to Mio Takamiya's Angel Ain Soph; both take the form of large trees that allow the user to manipulate reality within their territory. The kanji for Ain Soph includes "Rinne", albeit written as "Samsara" (輪廻) rather than the kanji in Rinne's name (凜祢), and both Angels contain kanji for "Paradise" (楽園 Rakuen).

Appearance
Ren wears a stylish purple Astral Dress with bandages covering her arms and eyes. She has a visible scar over both eyes that resembles the makeup of a clown. Her purple eyes match her long purple hair which is decorated with floral patterned ribbon ornaments and a small top hat with light pink frills at the bottom. Additionally, she is adorned with shackles and long chains that bind both her arms and legs together.
As her powers accumulate from stealing Reiryoku from all the sealed Spirits via Shido, her right eye and then her left eye are exposed from her bandages, and her eyes dilate snake-like slit pupils. Ren then gains a dark purple Astral Dress which exposes her navel and legs, the latter gaining markings on her thighs. She also gains two dark hairpieces and a dark halo with upside-down wings floating behind her. Overall, her outfit resembles a more malicious version of Mio Takamiya's Astral Dress.
During her last kiss with Shido, Ren's hair color turns white for a brief moment before she disappears.

Personality
Ren self-proclaims herself to be a "pitiful jester" and pledges servitude to whoever opens her Angel by offering to grant three wishes. However, she has a sly nature and often twists her contractor's words so that they will wind up dissatisfied with the wish and make another to fix the previous one. After absorbing as much Reiryoku as she can from her contractor, she will turn on them with killing intent, self-deprecatingly proclaiming herself a natural-born villain.
|
History
Ren was born as the personification of Mio Takamiya's sorrow and hatred toward Isaac Westcott for killing her beloved Shinji Takamiya. Fearing that Ren would someday harm Shinji's reincarnation Shido, Mio sealed her and left her in the space between this world and the Neighboring World, but she was released when Shido changed history through Kurumi's <Zakfiel>.
Before her sealing, Ren made her first wish with <Samael> to meet Shido, as she had inherited her mother's love for him. However, she forgot this wish during the 30 years she was sealed, and while she still holds feelings for Shido deep down, she also desires to kill him out of spite toward her mother for being the reason she sealed her.

Summary
Ren Dystopia
Ren first appears in Shido's dreams, expressing joy that she has been freed from the gap between worlds. When Shido wakes up, he finds a mysterious purple box with golden snake decorations in his room.
While trying to locate the owner, Shido will present the box to the Spirit of that route, who will open it and find the box empty, though Shido will sense something emerging from it. Ren will begin visiting the Spirit's dreams to offer her three wishes, one per night. The following day, Shido will encounter Ren in the real world, inexplicably knowing her name at first sight. Ren will give implications toward the wish she recently granted before disappearing. After all three wishes have been granted, Ren will trap Shido and the Spirit in a pocket dimension, with the latter having their Reiryoku stolen by Samael. If all choices in the route have been done correctly, Shido will supply the Spirit with the other Spirits' Reiryoku (while the unsealed Kurumi will regain her Reiryoku after exposing <Samael>'s failure to properly grant her first wish), granting a complete Astral Dress and enough power to drive Ren away. Should any choice be made incorrectly, Ren will kill the Spirit before turning on Shido.
In Ren's route, Shido himself opens <Samael>'s box and becomes Ren's contractor. To Ren's surprise, Shido makes two mundane wishes to introduce Ren to the other Spirits and have her experience a day at Raizen High School. Before enacting her goal, Ren makes her second wish for <Samael> to make herself imperceptible to her mother, but she remains troubled by being unable to remember her first wish. When Shido gives his final wish for Ren to reveal her true intentions, she admits that she wants to kill him, trapping him in her pocket dimension and stealing his Reiryoku. However, his distress subconsciously sent some of the Reiryoku to the sealed Spirits, allowing them to regain their complete Astral Dresses and come to his aid. Unperturbed, Ren uses the stolen Reiryoku to manifest her true Astral Dress and create shadow clones of the Spirits. Shido and the girls are at a disadvantage until Kurumi arrives to help, using her own clones to distract Ren's copies. After Kotori informs Shido that Ren's affection toward him is enough to be sealed despite her current actions, the Spirits help Shido approach her for a kiss, ultimately succeeding by breaking Ren's concentration with a sudden love confession. With her powers weakened, the dimension starts to collapse with everyone trapped inside, but Ren uses her final wish to let them escape, bidding farewell to Shido as both her sworn enemy and friend. Afterward, nobody but Shido remembers Ren. Shido brings Tohka to the shrine where he first met Ren to wish for a reunion, and briefly hears her voice lightly mocking him for such a wish.
If Ren's route is revisited after clearing all the others, Shido's final wish to learn Ren's intentions instead becomes saving Ren in the truest sense. <Samael> puts the two in a parallel Tengu City for the sake of uncovering Ren's first wish, reviving Rinne, Mayuri, Rio, and Marina (the last of whom is once again sharing a body with Maria) to serve as guides. Shido and Ren find "fragments" scattered over the city which allow them to re-enact portions of the other Spirits' wishes, with Ren playing the role of the Spirit. Each time a "fragment" is found, the Spirit involved is brought to the parallel world. After having a barbecue with everyone, Shido is encouraged by Rinne to resolve Ren's issue and gives him <Samael>‘s box. As the two converse alone, Ren admits that she is afraid of remembering her first wish, despite previously denying it when accused by Marina. She finally remembers from her own fragment within the box that her first wish was to meet Shido and muses that it had already been granted, even though she encountered him as an enemy. The parallel world then begins to collapse, and Ren explains that the only way to rescue everyone in time is for Shido to seal her. Shido refuses, knowing that as a being of Reiryoku like her "sisters" Mayuri and Rinne, she will cease to exist. In response, Ren uses her final wish to force Shido into kissing her, causing her hair to fade to white, and she bids farewell to Shido as her beloved.
As Ren's body dissolves into light, satisfied that her first wish came true, Mayuri, Rinne, Rio, and Marina assure her that the others have successfully escaped, as they will be disappearing along with the parallel world. The effect of Ren's second wish wears off, allowing <Phantom> to visit her in her last moments. <Phantom> apologizes for fearing her and sealing her away, but Ren admits that she no longer holds any grudge toward her. Ren's tearful last words are thanking her mother for giving birth to her. Afterward, Shido and the others no longer remember Ren or the Spirits in the parallel world, but they have vague memories of the experience as a supposed shared dream.

Powers and Abilities
Angel: Samael (瘴毒浄土サマエル, Samaeru?. lit. "Pure Land of Miasma")
Astral Dress: Unnamed
Samael takes the form of a small, seemingly empty purple box with golden snake decorations. The Angel functions as a "shell" to protect Ren from the gap between worlds where she was sealed. However, the person who opened it will start encountering Ren in their dreams, where she will offer to grant three wishes. One wish is granted per night and takes effect when the contractor wakes up the next day.
However, Samael is a "poisonous" Angel that absorbs the contractor's Reiryoku to empower Ren at the cost of granting their wishes. This includes the portion of Reiryoku sealed by Shido; neither he nor Tohka could summon <Sandalphon> when the latter fell victim, and he could not rely on <Camael>'s regeneration when Kotori fell victim. Once her power is unleashed, Ren can trap others within a pocket dimension. With the first two wishes granted, the bandages are removed from one of Ren's eyes for each, undoing her seal partially, while only the third appears capable of letting her steal the Reiryoku from her contractor. In the case of Origami, the manner in which her wishes were granted, and in particular how the final wish split her personalities into separate beings so that each could have their different wishes granted, resulted in the "poison" being diluted between her two personalities, so neither suffered the full repercussions, allowing the original timeline personality to still barely be able to use Metatron and the new timeline version to bestow her remaining power to her. In terms of limitations, <Samael> could not properly grant Kurumi's first wish to undo the First Spirit's existence, as Ren, being a Spirit, would not be able to continue granting wishes. <Samael> instead erased all memory of Spirits existing, and Kurumi was reimbursed with all her stolen Reiryoku upon calling out the Angel for failing to truly grant her wish. The wishes <Samael> grants can also be used against her. For instance, new timeline Origami's wish for Shido's good health manifested as the ability to boost his stamina, which she later used to save him from Ren when he was left vulnerable after transferring his sealed Reiryoku to the Origami duo.
By stealing 8 Spirits' worth of Reiryoku from Shido, she regains her original Astral Dress and can create shadow clones of the Spirits whose Reiryoku she has absorbed, with the clones able to share injuries with the originals. However, she could not create clones of Kurumi, as Shido had only sealed a small portion of <Zafkiel>'s Reiryoku at that point.
Ren herself is allowed three wishes toward her own Angel, seemingly without any side effects.
