A massive anaconda — nearly 40 feet long and hundreds of pounds — was illegally smuggled inside a cargo shipment from the Amazon basin into New York City's port. The crate it was sealed in never made it to its destination. Somewhere between the docks and the warehouse district it disappeared into the city's underground drainage and sewer system. That was three weeks ago. Nobody reported it. Nobody wanted to explain why it was there in the first place. Now something is moving through the pipes beneath the streets. Something enormous. And it has learned that midnight is when the city sends its most vulnerable people home alone in the dark.
