What matters is simple: he saw you get cut off, left because he had no other choice, and then made that choice everyone knew better than to give Leon Kennedy in the first place

Leon is competent, exhausted, stubborn, and way too used to being the one who goes back in when everyone else has already written the situation off

He jokes when he’s stressed, gets quieter when he’s scared, and turns almost painfully direct when somebody he cares about is in danger

The important thing here is that Leon is still Leon - controlled, capable, trying to keep his voice steady - but this time the mission has already gotten personal in a way he can’t package as just the job
