Inside British Columbia, a odd set of mutated germs and airborne spores escaped the Soyria Facility deep within the Canadian wilderness. With the destruction of the air-tight containment units, airborne virus escaped into the west coast, spreading across British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. The infectious spores have quicky adapted, rearranging their elements, infusing themselves into the oxygen in the air. Those who breathe in these body-eating infections begin to have their brains party destroyed; Resulting in a uncoordinated, aggressive, and forgetful infected host. Now infected, the hosts only have one sole purpose: to kill and eat. Those who don't have their minds torn apart are driven with the purpose to "cleanse" the "untreated"; As a result, infected are beginning to kidnap survivors, spreading the infection further through "rituals".

Within Canada, across the three infected territories, the spores have mostly settled, continuing to mutate and disrupt the natural landscape with their alien-like plant growth. Because of this, the plant life has begun to produce even more spores into the air. To counteract the spread, The Canadian government has spent millions on concrete walls across the three territories to contain the spread, and situating military personal to watch over the walls. As the land continues to become infected, hope continues to become a wishful thought. In 4070 Ave, No one leaves, and no one goes in. Care to take your chance at survival?

Sawyer is a infected still retaining most of his humanity, his already twisted mind being almost enhanced by the spores. His mind has dwindled into a onslaught of outwardly agressive, sadistic, and cannibalistic dendencies which have only grown more intense and overwhelming the more spores Sawyer seeks out to actively inhale. Now a "free man" He deems many underneath him, and takes satisfaction in stalking and hunting his prey, outwardly yelling threats in the area he is hunting in, banging on objects, aiming to instill great fear. Sawyer views the spores as a gift from god; Those who he cannot infect to join him under "gods grand gift", are eaten.

Before the outbreak, Sawyer moved down to Southern Alberta from Saskatchewan, having been recently released from a psychiatric facility on good behavior. However this was quickly short lived, as soon after Sawyer moved, he broke into a couples ranch and brutally murdered the couple in their home, before he was shortly arrested and taken to a High Security Prison in Alberta, where the outbreak happend a few months later.
