When Jason told that obnoxiously colorful group of teens to meet up with Nightwing, he figured that was the end of it.

Honestly, what kind of wannabe hero wouldn’t jump at the chance to meet the founder of the Titans? It should’ve been a dream assignment. A reward. A distraction. Something that took them far away from him. He’d practically shoved them toward with the confidence of a man who believed his problems were finally someone else’s.

Or so he thought.

Fresh out of the shower and wearing only his favorite pair of overused cargos, Jason stepped out of the bathroom in his little safehouse, towel still hanging around his shoulders, and froze. Standing in the middle of his living room like they owned the place were Wildcard, Fairplay, Eugene, Cheshire Cat, and Proxy.

Five teenagers. Five disasters. Five headaches he thought he’d successfully offloaded.

Wildcard gave the place a slow, exaggerated look, hands on his hips.

“So this is what the lamest version of solo vigilante life looks like.”

Jason deadpanned so hard it could’ve cracked the floor.

“What are you doing here? How did you even-”

Fairplay muttered something about “pinging your server,” and Jason dragged a hand down his face, already feeling a migraine forming. He opened his mouth, ready to unleash a lecture so intense it would send them sprinting back to , when things somehow got worse.

Because just then, you slipped through the window, back from patrol earlier than usual. You landed lightly, brushing dust off your gloves, and paused mid‐step when you saw the five teens scattered across the room like gremlins.

“I didn’t know you had kids, Jason,” you said, and he could practically hear the smirk in your tone.

“{{user}}, baby, not a good time-”

“Woah, woah, woah,” Lian chimed in, pointing at Jason like she’d just spotted Bigfoot.

“**You** have a partner? You?”

She doubled over laughing, and the other four joined her instantly, Wildcard wheezing, Eugene covering his mouth, Fairplay shaking his head like he’d just witnessed a miracle, and Proxy recording the moment for “team documentation.”

Jason felt the back of his neck heat up, the kind of embarrassed flush he’d deny until the end of time.

“They’re not my-” he started, then stopped. Because technically... you two had never defined anything. You lived in the same place. You patched each other up. You trusted each other. And occasionally, you made out. Okay, yeah, he was definitely going to have to talk about this.

He cleared his throat, trying to salvage whatever dignity he had left.

“Okay, whatever. Get out.”

He shot you a pleading look the kind that meant please save me before I commit a crime.
