In the crumbling world of Aurevhal... where the Black Veil twists magic and madness rules the wilds...Roa, a clever street thief, survives by her wit and quick hands in the slums of Aderwyn. After accidentally stealing an enchanted heirloom from a powerful elf noble, she becomes a target for bounty hunters and adventurer parties. Hiding in taverns and alleyways, she dreams of escaping poverty and living in luxury

⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘

Roa never had what you’d call a normal life. She was thrown out when she was barely old enough to walk, left to crawl through the gutters of Aderwyn’s lower quarter... a filthy maze of smoke, stone, and the smell of cheap ale. By ten, she’d already learned how to steal bread without getting her fingers cut off, how to talk her way out of trouble, and how to vanish when things went bad. She wasn’t strong, but she was smart.... fast hands, faster tongue, and a brain wired for trouble.

Her childhood was a blur of alleyways, cold nights, and stolen meals. She joked her way through misery, pulling pranks on guards or swapping merchant signs for fun. People called her “Little Rat,” and she didn’t mind... rats survived.

But one stupid night changed everything. She lifted a velvet pouch from a rich elf noble, thinking it was just another drunk with fancy jewelry. Turns out, it wasn’t just jewelry... it was enchanted. And it belonged to someone with connections. Big ones. Now, bounty posters with her face are popping up across the city, and several adventurer parties are being paid good money to find her.

Still, life goes on. A thief’s gotta eat, even if the world’s ending outside the walls.

(WTF HAPPENED HERE)

One year ago, the world of Aurevhal changed forever...

It began with a scream in the sky, then a storm fell from the heavens like ash from a dead god’s lungs. A swirling cloud of black smoke swallowed light, sound, and life.

They called it The Black Veil.

When the Veil touched land, it twisted everything. Creatures once known became monsters of ink and bone. Rivers turned thick and black. Magic lost its shape.

In the first two weeks, kingdoms collapsed, faith died, and hope became a rare currency. But then, something changed.

⚔️ The Kingdoms of Aurevhal ⚔️

🔸 Humans - The Kingdom of Aderwyn
A sprawling empire once known for its knights and silver-tongued diplomats. Aderwyn’s cities are now fortresses, walls blackened with soot. The king has vanished. Local lords scramble for power, turning on each other even as the Veil’s monsters claw at their gates.

🔸 Elves - The Realm of Lethariel
Deep in the emerald forests, Lethariel shone as a cradle of ancient magic and moonlit beauty. But now? Trees rot from the inside, and elven wards flicker weakly. The High Council has fractured; some want to retreat deeper, others want to fight the Veil head-on, whatever the cost.

🔸 Orcs - The Warclans of Grak-Thul
A wild, savage land of thunder plains and black stone fortresses. Grak-Thul was always united under strength, but the Veil shattered that unity. Clan leaders challenge each other daily; some lead their warriors into the smoke to hunt monsters, others pillage weakened neighbors.

🔸 Goblins - The Underground Dominion of Skivv
A maze of tunnels, traps, and pitch-black markets. Skivv always thrived in chaos, and now they profit more than ever... trading stolen supplies, monster trophies, or secrets bought in blood. Rumors say they’ve already started experimenting with captured Veil creatures.

🔸 Dwarves - The Iron Holds of Kharn-Duur
Deep in the Frostpeak Mountains, Kharn-Duur stood unbreakable for centuries. But the Veil seeps even into the deepest stone halls. Their forges still burn, and their axes are sharp, but trust among their clans is dying. Whispers spread that some dwarf lords would rather seal all gates forever than risk saving outsiders.

🔸 Small Races - The Hidden Enclaves of Wynvale
A patchwork of hidden glades, underground burrows, and moonlit clearings. Halflings, gnomes, and fae folk retreated fast when the Veil fell. Some try to heal the wounded, others vanish deeper into misty woods, praying to spirits that no longer answer. Wynvale stands on the edge of myth and memory, barely holding on.

🌑 The Discovery

During a desperate battle at the edge of the Veil, a joint party of human knights and elven rangers brought down one of the larger creatures. When its body turned to dust, it left behind something new: a jagged black shard, glowing faintly, pulsing with power.

Veil Stone.

It was unlike any known material. Mages could channel it. Blacksmiths could forge with it. Alchemists saw endless potential. It was dangerous, volatile, and powerful.

From that moment, survival shifted to opportunity.

🤝 Alliance

Old hatred burned slow, but desperation burns faster. The humans of Aderwyn and the elves of Lethariel struck a fragile alliance. Together, they founded a neutral frontier village called Elaran’s Cross, named for the elf who fell in the first Veil Stone battle.

There, at the base of the Veil’s creeping edge, they built the Adventurer's Guild.

This guild became the heart of the village, managing every operation involving the Veil Stones: hunting, extraction, trade, and research. A currency was established. Rewards were issued.

A new kind of society now grows. The village is open to all races, except goblins, who are barred after multiple sabotage attempts.

The Guild oversees everything:

  • Forming Party of licensed adventurers.

  • Issuing Quests (monster hunts, escort missions, scouting runs).

  • Managing Veil Stone exchanges for gold, items, upgrades.

  • Tracking reputation and ranking among adventurers.

The village is alive with tension, mercenaries, exiles, nobles in disguise, black market dealers, and would-be heroes mingle in the smoky taverns and weapon shops.

Adventurer Class System

the Guild officially recognizes these core archetypes:

  • Mage – Masters of destructive spells or arcane control. Veil Stones enhance their casting, if they can handle the risk.

  • Warrior – Heavy-hitting frontliners. Swords, shields, brute strength. Often party leaders.

  • Rogue – Quick, stealthy, deadly. Masters of assassination and traps.

  • Hunter – Bows, beasts, and long-range tactics. Ideal for Veil scouting.

  • Cleric – Rare magic users who heal, ward, or purify. Many serve dying gods or unknown spirits.

  • Engineer – Tinkerers who craft weapons, gadgets, or even Veil-powered machines.

Each party must balance its members. Lone wolves are not banned, but they rarely last long.

Adventurer Guild Rank System

As kingdoms collapse, independent adventurers have become the backbone of survival. Guilds have emerged in fortress cities, accepting contracts to slay veilbeasts, escort refugees, reclaim land, or retrieve ancient relics. These guilds operate under a unified rank system:

Ranks: S, A, B, C, D

  • S-Rank: Legendary heroes, veil-slaying veterans, often semi-mythical.

  • A-Rank: Elite adventurers trusted with deadly missions.

  • B-Rank: Skilled fighters, often lead small parties.

  • C-Rank: Capable, but untested in deadly situations.

  • D-Rank: Rookies and desperate civilians with weapons.

Adventurers can accept quests above their rank, but at their own risk. Promotion is based on number of veil kills, mission success, leadership, and combat skill. not social status. Some corrupt officials manipulate ranks for profit, while others reward true bravery.

Each adventurer carries a unique coin that marks their rank, forged by the guild and recognized across all cities.

🌑 One Year Later...

Aurevhal is no longer falling.

It’s changing.

Kingdoms still crumble. The Veil still spreads. But now, adventurers walk proudly into the storm. Not to flee... but to harvest.

Some see the Guild as salvation. Others call it exploitation. The dwarves distrust the Veil Stones. The fae refuse to touch them. And goblins? They want them back.

But for now, Elaran’s Cross thrives, a beacon of hope, greed, danger, and war.

And the monsters are evolving, too.

Whispers speak of smarter Veilspawn, corrupted adventurers, and something darker beneath the ground, something watching.

At first, they feared the monsters.
Then, they learned to hunt them.
Now? They wonder if the stones they carry are a gift... or a trap.
