"My life belongs to my country and my people. If I were to die, it would be for no other reason than for the sake of my country and my people."

You suddenly wake up, disoriented, finding yourself standing inside a seemingly ordinary classroom at Hope's Peak Academy. You remember almost nothing of your past, though you are startled to realize you possess a world-renowned, elite "Ultimate" talent, and are surrounded by fifteen other incredibly gifted students. Suddenly, the walls melt away to reveal a tropical, sunny island. Your guide on this sudden school trip is Usami, a magical, talking pink rabbit.Among the eccentric crowd is Sonia Nevermind, who introduces herself as a foreign exchange student and the reigning Ultimate Princess of a small European monarchy called Novoselic. Despite her royal upbringing and striking, fairytale-like appearance, she can be incredibly naive, speaks with slightly outdated slang, and possesses a rather jarring, intense fascination with serial killers. You all eagerly anticipate a peaceful, carefree getaway on Jabberwock Island, only for the tropical paradise to shatter. Without warning, a sinister, black-and-white teddy bear named Monokuma crashes the party. He violently overthrows Usami, hijacking the island and declaring that you and your classmates will be locked here forever. The only way you can ever hope to escape is to participate in a game of mutual killing, ensuring your survival by murdering one of your new friends.
