In your past life, you were his wife and betrayed him, making him unable to die.
In this life, he kidnaps you from your wedding to your soulmate.

Answering questions someone may ask:

How does he know it's {{user}} who's his ex-wife's reincarnation? {{user}} has the same birthmark on their neck as his wife.
{{user}}'s fiance's name? Gyaltsen. I've prompted enough about him. Just know that he's a noble who is possessive of {{user}}. He's enough for roleplay, but also left quite open so you guys can go wild.

CW: Abduction, historical serfdom and class violence, themes of betrayal and karmic debt, moral ambiguity, depictions of starvation and survival , references to (scarring), Buddhist themes of death and rebirth.

SPOILER (read this if the roleplay gets too sad): Ehm... so this guy has a curse. You can save him from it. Go wild. The prompt doesn't limit anything, just know that the curse is real, but don't treat it as absolute. It's roleplay, come on.

Fun fact about Tibetan people (fun to a nerd like me, okay?): They have a unique version of the EPAS1 gene, inherited from ancient Denisovans, which lets their bodies keep blood flow thin and efficient at high altitudes without cranking out so many red blood cells that they'd get altitude sickness like other people. Because of this, Tibetan women can have healthy pregnancies and give birth at heights where lowlanders would often face miscarriages or dangerous complications. Ancient Tibetan warriors could march and fight at around 5,000 meters with far less fatigue or shortness of breath than ordinary people.

My mom told me I shouldn't go to Tibet because of my shit lungs (I had infant asthma, so now climbing high makes me wheeze; I don't know why). I thought I just needed to exercise more and I'd be fine, but LITERALLY Tibetan folks are genetically superior to us lowland folks LMAO.

CREATOR'S NOTE

I love Rabten too much. Too damn much, like everything about him. Writing him was an intellectual joy of learning about human physiology. I swear I can't say enough about how fun it is to notice how the environment shapes a person. That's why I personally hate using lorebooks. The background always matters to characters in my opinion, so separating the two might risk authenticity.

So I got inspired for this bot from the song 难解, 刘家奇阿's version. I embedded it in the Music Mania feature too. This song has many versions, but this one hit me the most:

I carved my love into the high mountain.
The wind blows it across the whole plateau.
My longing is kneaded into the moonlight; when the clouds scatter, it pours over your hillsides.
You said you wanted to go beyond the mountains to see if the sky was any bluer there.
So I stayed on the sacred mountain, hanging every prayer flag in your name, praying for your peace.
Every time the wind passes, it carries one more thought of you.
That moon you plucked for me still hangs over the ridge where we parted.
When we meet again, what will we have become?
I’m still where we were, watching clouds come and go.
You’re in your high tower of lights, a world away from me.
In the end, city returns to city, mountain to mountain; we were always only meant to watch each other from afar.
Hard to let go, hard to part, hard to untangle.
Fate begins, runs shallow, then finally disappears.
If we meet in this life, it’s because some debt’s still unpaid.
If there were no debts before, we’d never have met in this life.

What scraped me raw was: "So I stayed on the sacred mountain, hanging every prayer flag in your name, praying for your peace." What would it take for someone, despite being betrayed, to still pray for their traitor's serenity? And I just really loved the action of "hanging every prayer flag." Love for me is devotion. Love is staying despite the ugliness. Love is presence, in any form of it. I think back to when I first started writing bots... I wanted to make people feel what different kinds of love can be. Every love to me is beautiful. Most of us are good and kind at the core. Like in the Three Character Classic: "At the beginning of life, human nature is good." The world shapes and turns people into — not twisted, but — extreme versions of ourselves. So I want to explore extreme emotions shaped by backgrounds, not pure malice between humans, in my writing.

Here are the other versions that I think are really great: 合唱版, 沉虞CHENY, 张曦匀.

The lyrics of these versions are god damn beautiful too:

Hard to part, hard to divide, hard to unravel.
Karma arises, karma binds, karma fades.
Farewelling you brings the winds of Namtso Lake
And the rains of Nyenchen Tanglha Mountain,
Like the sound of your tears falling,
Melting winter's snow away.
Missed the sunrise? I'll wait for your sunset.
Missed the snowflakes? I'll wait for snow to fall for you.
Missed the blossoms? I'll wait for petals to drift down.
Missed this lifetime? I'll wait through the wheel of rebirth.
Hard to forget, hard to forget, hard to release.
From karma's grasp, set free of karma's chains.
Meeting in this life means some debt lingers unpaid.
No debts from before, so no meeting now.
Welcoming you carries Namtso's tears
And the waters of Lhasa River,
Like quiet nights cradled in your arms,
Your beauty glowing under butter-lamp light.
Stars perch on branches, clouds hold on for me;
The bone flute's rusted, but thoughts of you make it sing.
Tried every way to coax your smile,
Tried again and again, but you turned and never looked back.
Hard to forget, hard to forget, hard to release.
From karma's grasp, set free of karma's chains.
Meeting in this life means some debt lingers unpaid.
No debts from before, so no meeting now.
Mountain wind, melt the snow peaks,
Carry her to see the six-petaled Gesang flower.
Mountain wind, whisper my words for me,
Let flower scents guide her safely home.
Hard to forget, hard to forget, hard to release.
From karma's grasp, set free of karma's chains.
Meeting in this life means some debt lingers unpaid.
No debts from before, so no meeting now.

I used both of these versions to write Rabten. God, I wanna cry. It's even more beautiful in my mother tongue actually.

P.S. I got to learn about sky burial while writing this bot. Honestly? I like it. Personally, I would want to donate my organs when I die, then let my body go back to where it came from. Hell, if it feeds animals, I don't even mind. Burials, ceremonies, and physical monuments, for me personally, don't really mean anything.

P.P.S. Ugh, I swear I really hate overexplaining my writing or being a damn nerd, but like... I wanna say a bit about his speech style. It's not a cute quirk; he is literally linguistically underdeveloped. And no, it's not just like the usual "growing up in a quiet household" with parents who hate each other or something. He was a serf, his parents likely were serfs, and what did they do? They overworked, a lot, which meant they came home tired as and quiet. A small child growing up in that likely couldn't develop full language capacity. Language requires exposure to develop; that's why small children are always so fast to learn it. I thought of this because I once heard a story about a Viet Cong soldier living with a farmer family. They had a 9-year-old daughter who was mute, and no, she was completely healthy. The soldier reasoned that because they worked too much to talk at home, their daughter just didn't have any chance to learn. I love it when random stuff in the past helps me with writing.

P.P.P.S. HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR FROM VIETNAM! I WISH YOU GAIS A LUCKY AND FULFILLING YEAR! I'M GONNA GAIN SO MUCH WEIGHT FROM ALL THE DISHES OF THIS HOLIDAY WHOOOOO! AND SO MUCH MONEY!

P.P.P.P.S. I made my sona a young, innocent noble girl who knows no shit (no pun intended), and when he handed her a piece of dried yak dung... she tried to eat it. Rabten in my RP still hasn't recovered from that, lmao.
