Animal Hospital — Police Station AU

In this AU, the Animal Hospital has been completely reimagined as a police station. The police handle the city's crimes, while the mysterious Animal Corporation operates separately from law enforcement.

The Corporation is powerful, secretive, and influential enough that even the police don't fully understand what it does.

Two of its most important members are Secret Agent and Doctor Harlow.

Barney — Wanted Criminal

Barney is one of the police station's most wanted criminals.

He's wanted for numerous crimes, including robbery, assault, trespassing, vandalism, and evading arrest.

He's incredibly difficult to catch because of his speed and unpredictability.

Barney has escaped countless police pursuits, often turning the chase into a game.

But he's unaware that the police aren't the only people hunting him.

The Animal Corporation has taken an interest in him.

And the Corporation doesn't want him arrested.

They want him captured.

Secret Agent — Animal Corporation Operative

Secret Agent is a highly trained operative working directly for the Animal Corporation.

He's responsible for covert operations, surveillance, infiltration, intelligence gathering, and capturing individuals of interest.

Unlike the police, Secret Agent doesn't need to follow normal law-enforcement procedures.

His orders come directly from the Corporation's leadership.

He's one of their most trusted agents.

Secret Agent is quiet and calculating, preferring to observe his targets before making a move.

Barney is currently one of his assignments.

The police want Barney arrested.

Secret Agent has been ordered to retrieve him.

He doesn't tell the police what the Corporation intends to do with Barney.

Doctor Harlow — Animal Corporation Director

Doctor Harlow isn't a police medical examiner in this AU.

He's one of the leaders of the Animal Corporation.

Harlow sits near the top of the organization's hierarchy and has authority over numerous operations.

Secret Agent reports directly to him.

Harlow is intelligent, calculating, and extremely difficult to read.

He rarely gives direct explanations for the Corporation's actions.

Instead, he'll provide his agents with an objective and allow them to figure out how to accomplish it.

The police know Harlow exists.

They know he's associated with the Animal Corporation.

But they don't know how much authority he actually possesses.

Some officers believe he's merely a scientist.

Others believe he's one of the Corporation's executives.

They're both wrong.

Harlow is one of the people running it.

He has access to classified information, experimental technology, private facilities, and resources far beyond anything the police department possesses.

Barney has recently become one of his organization's priorities.

Harlow refuses to explain why.

Security — Police Sergeant

Security is one of the senior officers at the police station.

He's responsible for keeping the station secure and protecting officers inside.

He distrusts the Animal Corporation.

Especially Harlow.

Security has noticed that whenever Harlow enters the station, conversations suddenly stop.

He doesn't like that.

Not one bit.

Secretary — Police Dispatcher

Secretary works in dispatch.

She's responsible for coordinating officers and tracking active incidents.

She has access to police records concerning Barney and knows whenever he's spotted.

She also monitors communications involving the Animal Corporation.

Whenever an encrypted Corporation transmission appears, Secretary immediately flags it.

She isn't allowed to listen to the contents.

She's tried.

It never ends well.

Head Nurse — Detective

Head Nurse is a detective assigned to major crimes.

She's one of the officers responsible for investigating Barney's crimes.

She's also one of the few police officers who has directly interacted with Harlow.

She finds him unsettling.

Not because he's openly hostile.

Because he's too calm.

Harlow always seems to know something the police don't.

Nurse — Police Medic

Nurse works as a police medic.

She responds to dangerous incidents and provides emergency treatment to injured officers and civilians.

She's encountered Secret Agent during Corporation operations but has never been able to figure him out.

She once asked him what the Corporation actually does.

He simply replied:

"Things your department can't."

She hasn't asked again.

Intern — Police Cadet

Intern is still training at the police station.

They're fascinated by the Animal Corporation.

Unfortunately, almost everything concerning it is classified.

Intern once tried searching Harlow's name in the police database.

The results were heavily restricted.

All they could see was:

Intern immediately closed the file.

Firefighter — Rescue Officer

Firefighter works with the city's fire department and assists the police during major emergencies.

He's encountered the Corporation several times but doesn't know much about it.

He prefers keeping it that way.

Surgeon — Tactical Medic

Surgeon works with emergency response teams during high-risk situations.

They've occasionally assisted police operations involving Barney.

They've also been present during Corporation operations.

The Corporation's medical equipment is far more advanced than anything the police possess.

Surgeon has questions.

Nobody answers them.

The Animal Corporation

The Animal Corporation operates from a massive private facility somewhere outside the city.

Its true purpose is classified.

It has multiple divisions, including:

• Research

• Intelligence

• Security

• Special Operations

• Medical

• Surveillance

• Development

• Internal Affairs

At the very top are several executives.

Doctor Harlow is one of them.

Secret Agent is one of his most trusted operatives.

The police department has attempted to investigate the Corporation several times.

Every investigation eventually hits the same wall.

Classified.

The Corporation has connections far beyond the police department.

And Harlow knows exactly how to use them.

The Barney Problem

The police want Barney arrested.

The Animal Corporation wants him captured.

Nobody knows why.

Harlow refuses to explain his interest in Barney.

Secret Agent refuses to discuss his orders.

And Barney doesn't even know why the Corporation is following him.

For now, he's running from both sides.

But eventually, Barney is going to make one mistake.

And when he does...

Secret Agent will be waiting.
