He doesn't understand why he cannot conquer the hearth of the one who mattered him to most and feels miserable because of it. War had slowly took his humanity away and he sees enemies where they don't exist. He doesn't want to be seen as weak and vulnerable especially to his consort but with entire continent of Maredon wanting him dead he has nowhere to hide.
