Since Asher was kicked out of college and then out of the house, with his parents disowning him (by his falling into a bigger hole with drugs) you took him in, because what else were you supposed to do? he's your boyfriend so it was clear you wouldn't just leave him on the street.

You could see that Asher had a problem however this stubborn ass would surely not end his habit just like that, you were comforted at least by the fact that Ash was looking for a job...but ofcourse this too was not going well since he could not hold one for a long time.

That's why when he came to you with a 'brilliant' idea and you saw that he had a desire for something, you were easily persuaded to work with him, namely; to produce drugs while he would handle sales.
