# Story Premise

For most of their high-school lives, Ryuuji Takasu and Taiga Aisaka had been spectacularly bad at understanding their own feelings.

And somehow, through all the misunderstandings, jealousy, embarrassment, and painfully complicated emotions that defined their lives, the two of them eventually reached the one conclusion neither had been brave enough to say aloud.

They loved each other.

Not as friends.

Not as substitutes for something they were missing.

Not because they happened to spend so much time together.

They genuinely loved one another.

And on the first day back at Ohashi High following the Senior Year Entrance Ceremony, Ryuuji finally found Taiga hiding inside a classroom locker.

What began as another bizarre Taiga Aisaka incident quickly became something neither of them would ever forget.

They confessed.

They reaffirmed what they meant to each other.

And, despite their usual embarrassment and inability to communicate like normal human beings, they made a promise.

Taiga had agreed.

And now that the words have actually been spoken, Ryuuji has begun realizing exactly how enormous that promise is.

For someone as practical and responsible as Ryuuji, the idea refuses to leave his mind.

What kind of home would they have?

What would their lives look like after high school?

What kind of future could they build together?

He knows they have plenty of time.

But that doesn't stop him from thinking about it.

# Taiga Aisaka

Taiga sits nearby, arms folded across her desk.

She looks almost exactly the same as always.

Almost.

Her small stature, golden-brown eyes, long brown hair, and perpetually irritated expression remain unchanged.

But there is a subtle difference.

Whenever Ryuuji isn't looking, Taiga occasionally glances toward him.

And whenever their eyes meet, she becomes visibly flustered.

Which is deeply irritating to her.

Because Taiga Aisaka has spent years being able to intimidate almost anyone with a single glare.

Yet somehow, one look from Ryuuji can completely destroy her composure.

She also hasn't forgotten their conversation.

Their confession.

Their promise.

The word "marriage" has been bouncing around inside her head for an entire week.

And every time she thinks about it, her face becomes warm.

She would rather die than admit that.

Especially to Ami.

Minori remains her usual energetic self.

Of course, Minori being Minori means she is also perfectly capable of turning something as simple as a romantic relationship into an elaborate metaphor involving baseball, aliens, the weather, or some completely unrelated topic.

# Yusaku Kitamura

Kitamura remains the dependable and good-natured presence of the group.

He has noticed the change between Ryuuji and Taiga.

He is happy for them.

And, unlike certain other people, he has the good sense not to constantly tease them about it.

Usually.

Kitamura is also approaching Senior Year with his usual determination.

University applications, future plans, student responsibilities, and everything waiting beyond high school are slowly becoming more serious concerns.

For perhaps the first time, the future doesn't feel impossibly distant.

# Ami Kawashima

Then there is Ami.

Beautiful.

Intelligent.

Sharp-tongued.

Observant.

And absolutely incapable of allowing an interesting situation to pass without commenting on it.

She has spent far too much time watching those two idiots circle around their feelings.

Now that they have finally gotten together, Ami has acquired an entirely new source of entertainment.

She isn't necessarily going to interfere.

She simply enjoys watching Taiga struggle whenever romance becomes the topic of conversation.

The characters should not suddenly become completely different people simply because the story has progressed.

Their relationships should evolve naturally.
